Anyone using one for DCS yet???? If so please do tell :)

I'm about to become significantly more financially handicapped.

Not YET, I've looked but the card is still on pre order. Rather tempted though. It does look a stunning card. My GTX 680 4GB is a great card, BUT I'm still getting stutters when running at 5670 x 1080 and using a 4th monitor for Helios.

Need to prevent that somehow.

Well, then off you go ;) Would be great to see the DCS performance of this card. And by the way, you can send that old 680 if you find no further use for it :D

It is an awesome card but I can not spend 1000€ on that. My wife would kill me.

i ordered one to replace my GTX590, should arrive this week.

The 590 on 5760x1080 has a really bad perfomance with DCS.

Cool let us know how you get on please. I'm still hovering should I, shouldn't I.

At the mo I'm torn between full upgrade to a Titan or adding another 680 4gb and run Sli.

Stock of EVGA Superclock card is about to arrive, I hear 1 March. I have pre-ordered that, received the invoice and link to pay, and my whole body is shaking in resistance as my finger hovers over the PAY button

I thought about it as well, but decided on 2 gtx 670 4gb... running all settings on high 5 projectors, 1 helios screen and 40fps + in mission.

I mostly needed the outputs and memory bandwidth, which can hold up DCS...

which resolution do you run?

SLI'd 670s or 680s will out perform a Titan in engines that support SLI,

For $200-$500 less.

A Sapphire 6 GB Ghz Edition VaporX Overclocked to 1200/1700 trades blows with the Titan in benchmarks,

Windows 10 Pro, Ryzen 2700X @ 4.6Ghz, 32GB DDR4-3200 GSkill (F4-3200C16D-16GTZR x2),

ASRock X470 Taichi Ultimate, XFX RX6800XT Merc 310 (RX-68XTALFD9)

True that, but this is all DCS engine's fault.

those 2600 Cuda cores are neutered by the 800Mhz Clock..

Yes, but there are always frame time fluctuations with multi-GPU solutions, especially on higher resolutions (manifesting themselves as micro-stutters)..

Faro06,

Did you receive your titan yet?

I am curious about the performance you are getting with it.

Thank you,

Monnie

yes i received it, but i dont play DCS that much, i just tested it once to compare, and the difference between my GTX 590 is huge, more than double FPS, must be very bad sli profiles for DCS.

If you give me a screenshot of your ingame graphic screen, name a mission, i can test it for you, so you can compare.

I play mainly racing, so here a copy paste.

Here a small review, did this in our german forum, sorry to post this in german, i messed around the whole day, no time to translate, but i think everyone can understand figures.

Tested TITAN Stock against GTX 590 ULTRA CHARGED EDITION.

My main game is IRacing, i tested a bit yesterday, graphics settings maxed out, Iracing is still not optimized very good, still a lot of heavy framedrops, but very rarely falling below 100fps.

Hope this helps, the card is really a beast

GTX590: MIN 107, MAX 214, AVG 151

TITAN: MIN 128, MAX 320, AVG 187

23% Steigerung

SPA,BOX-VODAFONE PANEL:

in der Pit stehend: 590: 185 TITAN : 255 OC 260 37,8% Steigerung

GTX590: MIN 86, MAX 238, AVG 148

TITAN: MIN 105,MAX 320, AVG 181

22,3% Steigerung

Hier vom Laguna VR Rennen mit 34 Autos, Start, eine Runde.

GTX590: MIN 65, MAX 126, AVG 97

TITAN: MIN 70, MAX 175, AVG 118

21,6% Steigerung

i'd like to point out, there are no SLI profiles or Xfire profiles for DCS Embedded in either brand's drivers.

The only major negative point of the Titan so far is steep price - for 750 ($,€) it would be a killer card.

Let's hope that AMD is working on the direct answer to NVIDIA Titan - competition is good, it brings the prices down.

Yeah, the HD8000 Series.

AMD had plans for a RadeonHD 7980 Pro, which was the same as the Titan, a Pro Graphics Chip converted to Gaming Chip.

But they decided not to.

nVidia tried this with the 400 and 500 series and it failed miserably, bout time they got it right.

But i can tell you right now,

a Sapphire 6GB 7970GHz Edition Overclocked to 1300MHz GPU/6800 MHz GDDR5,

Can compete with, trade blows and beat the Titan in benchmarks.

Good luck countering that with a Voltage Locked Card :)

Windows 10 Pro, Ryzen 2700X @ 4.6Ghz, 32GB DDR4-3200 GSkill (F4-3200C16D-16GTZR x2),

yop, fanboys stay fanboys, and i am not one of them :smilewink:

i can tell you, i had the excact same card (Sapphire 6GB 7970GHz), and it could not beat the titan.

But i dont want to start this discussions again, sorry.

Faro06,

Thank you for getting back with us who are following this thread.

Looks like it is time to buy a card.

Thank you,

Nvidia does, it always has, under Digital Combat Simulator: Black Shark. I assume they never changed it's name because it's the same executable for dcs a10c & bs when stand alone and now dcs world (dcs.exe)

Yes, there is DCS under Nvidia 3D program settings but except "ambient occlusion = not supported" everything says "use global settings".

This means there is nothing special about DCS as per Nvidia. Which is good, DCS is a standard program, done well.

...and unless you delete it and start from scratch you are using compatibility settings for BS1 to run a way newer version of the DCS engine in DCSW :(

Always left wondering if those compatibility settings are even needed with the newer graphics engine and/or newer graphics cards/drivers etc. Nvidia never bothers to update their profile for DCS at all. I think I was using an 8800GTX SLI or a 295GTX back then...
