Eh guys. Yesterday and last night was a bit of a weird one on the server. Had a master server disconnect (I believe) followed by quite a spell of guys being unable to complete connections.

 

I'm attaching a log... in it I noticed the following entries which I'd not noticed before?

 

(I include it below so you can find it and subsequent entries relating to many, many disconnected clients).

 

Not sure if it's going to help anything at this point what with a new patch inbound... but here's the log (attached).

 

Also, following a mission restart (after the below entry) clients appear to be unable to connect for some time as many disconnections occur.

 

Anyway- any thoughts on what this means in the bigger picture?

On an additional note I just learned the following from one of the users who was online for that disconnect:

 

 

It's funny as I thought I had crashed Firehouse as I just wondered if pressing the jettison all stores button would still work on the ground and not powered up. It did, all stores dropped and then immediately the server crashed lol.

It is likely machine-specific... like something with your firewall or internet connection. Could definitely be a master server thing though.

 

You did not specify what happens, or what your problem looks like. I've never seen a master server connection lost problem, so could you describe what happens? Does your game crash? Or does like a window pop up and say "connection to master server lost" or something? Please, fully describe the problem. I need to know exactly what happens on the server side when you have this problem. It doesn't sound like you have a crash, but for some reason you are including crash logs? What's going on?

Basically on my end typically I'm discovering it remotely (I don't have monitor or keyboard etc on the server comp). All I come in to find is the login screen and "cannot connect to master."

 

I'm including crash logs in many instances because they are available once I see this error. It seemed a bit odd to me too but I put them in in case someone else who understands what's actually in there can see a connection (pardon the pun) with anything.

 

Nothing on the machine has changed since 1.2.2... yet I've never had (with maybe 1 exception) a master server disconnect before 1.2.3.

 

Everything is excluded on my firewall and I'm running in a DMZ on the router. I mean... hard to imagine a clearer path?

 

As for other behavior... literally... I log in and see "cannot connect to master server" or words to that effect (pretty sure that's it.)

 

It's a completely vanilla install with the exception of those variables changed during the 7570 debacle- I disabled the timeouts.

I was in there when it crashed and it hasn't been in the server list since. I have noticed that the 76th server has been getting dumped quite often lately and today their ping was jumping all over the place. From my usual 100 or so all the way up to over 300 at times...then they were dumped again as well.

If all else fails, maybe you could try contacting c0ff via PM. Tell him you run a large public server and you are suddenly starting to experience these master server disconnects. Include a sample of your dcs.log file starting just before it starts disconnecting. Ask him what kind of things can cause this problem. Maybe c0ff will have the time to respond... but he is very busy.
