Never in any guarentee it stated they have to send you a total new one. they can also just fix the problem and mail you back another one. And yeah every company doesnt it for the same reasons i just said.

P.S the SSD works right so what is the problem ?

Dell tried to do that to me with a U2410.......I agreed to disagree and they sent me a new one.

I had problems with my Samsung Galaxy S II. Camera module made by Samsung is worse than Sony's.

I demanded to fix issue. 1st time replaced camera and mounted again Samsung. 2nd time they didn't find any issue. 3rd time they replaced it again for Samsung... and lens was dirty. 4rd time I went to the Consumer Lawyer and demanded complete repair and Sony Camera with pre-court letter.

They fixed everything in 3 days :D

Well, they don't give you a new car every time you claim warranty issue, do they? :)

No but when your engine blows they dont fix it with parts from the junk yard.

They get new parts.

Even if lawyers have special powers and speak a lot. If the text of the warranty specifies refurbished then all you can do is complain.

Many companies will do things they do not legally have to do simply to shut you up and make you go away.

Which would still make your engine a refurbished engine unless they replaced every single part down to the block with a new part.

Or replace the old engine with one from the factory..

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

I do warranty work on pool products for Pentair, Haward, and Jandy. We DO NOT repair or replace parts with used ones. Just letting people know what Samsung warranty is like. RMA parts with Asus and Sapphire and did not get back refurbished parts. They were new.

Yes but you probably have to consider the timeline; if your HDD was DOA or fairly close to it, I'd try to be anal about it and do it like 159th_Viper, ask for a new replacement. But if you have a product for half the warranty period or similar, you may be asking a bit much with a new replacement. because you did put wear and tear on the item yourself. And we all know electronic components age.

I'd just say think of what's reasonable time wise. You might be right though.

Lets not go talking down warranty, as it is an important part of life (especially in these days of the throw away consumer society)... if the new product is warrsnted for a certain amount of time, that warranty should always be honoured, as stated, right up until the very last minute (and not under any pro rata system).

Most warranties allow for the manufacturer to repair or replace... If they repair it, so be it and they should send your repaired item back. If they replace it, it should be replaced with a new item (off the warranty shelf where a certain amount of that product has been taken off the production line and stored for such occasions).

True, some just 'refurbish' (repair) a previously returned item...

If todays world was not "all" about money, your theorie would go up but unfortunataly it isn't. Instead of stating "some just refurbish", "most just refurbish" would be a better statement.

Most warranties clearly state that the replacement product will/may be refurbished.

Yes, they are holding up their warranty terms AFAIk, it states the product may be repaired or replaced with equivalent or better and possibly refurbished product. I think they keep their options open right in the warranty statement.

I would just use the refurbished drive. Most of them are new units that the consumer bricked by trying to set it up wrong. They simply flash everything back to original and re-use them. They don't replace bad chips and send them out.

Asus Sabertooth P67 Motherboard 2600k CPU, 16 gig DDR3, 1600. Samsung 830, 256 gig hard drive,

GTX780 Video Card, Warthog Hotas, Razer Mamba mouse. Saitek Combat Rudder Pedals. Trackir 5, Verizon FIOS 25Meg Up/Down

They do a number of things, sometimes they will reuse a controller board or platters , low level format etc. I'm pretty sure that overall the failure rate of refurbished drives is higher than new, especially for cases where they just reformat, but it won't be by much... luck of the draw either way, new or refurbished.
