Vlerkies Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 Jesus wept! Another TiR clip that breaks. My first one I ended up having wooden dowels plugged and stuck in it while getting a new one. Now the new one just disintegrated in mid flight. Anyone have any better ways to fix/support this flimsy thing? MTFDarkEagle Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 Used insulating tape and a plastic cable to to fix that. Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
cichlidfan Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 I have one that looks just like that (luckily I have spares). I was thinking a small plastic rod and some hot glue but the priority has been low. Vlerkies Posted February 17, 2013 Author Posted February 17, 2013 Yeah, 2 little pieces of plastic in the form of clips that hold this together somehow doesn't add up to 35 euro. By the time I import another one its 55-60 euro. Anyone have any better ways to fix/support this flimsy thing? HEY... The same thing happen to me after only a month but the company replaced it with no issue...While waiting for the replacement, I decided to try Super Glue even though I expected it to be a temp fix and prone to breaking. Amazingly enough, the repair has lasted almost a month! All I did was remove the rubber grommet and glue it in such a position that it is straight when playing. I believe the brand was Elmers Super Glue but I am not sure, I will check with the wife and get back to you. Geskes Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 Mine is completely FUBAR and is held together by tape and wire. To use it I wear a cap and slide the clip between the cap and my head. Then I put headphones on top. Looked at replacement but way too expensive. Anybody know about cheap fakes from China or something? At least the Chinese ship in gift packages instead of a box with a huge TrackIR logo attracting the attention of any customs official who will subsequently charge another 15 Euro or so on top of the 35 as import duties. Cp Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 My trackclip is being held together with electrical tape, and has been so for the past 2 years, I refuse to buy a new trackclip until they improve the quality of it. It would cost me €47/$63 + shipping to replace it, and for what you get its a joke. I wonder how much it would cost to have one 3D printed in better quality plastic or carved out of aluminum... or titanium...
mr_mojo97 Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 Mine's together with a pipe cleaner - and I can still adjust it a bit!! Actually I thinking about flogging it as the Trackir 5 is supposed to be much better than my 4. Would this be true with you lot? PoleCat Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 Love the concept and performance of the clip, hate the construction. Worst flimsy build quality ever. A shame for a good company like NP to release such a POS as this. I use them but they are always breaking. Out http://www.104thphoenix.com/
