Krupi Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 (edited) So the race finally begins who will get the Dora finished first... :music_whistling:  I want to do this project right and therefore its going to take a few months, I am using a set of blueprints and have started modelling the cockpit section as can be seen below. Specifically the cockpit is going to be a replica of the Dora variant. At the moment the plan is to have only three parts made from wood, the base front and back, the rest will be made from aluminium. The plan is also to design it to disassemble into ~five major components so its not a hassle when I'am finally kicked out of the parents house  Over the past couple of months I have been purchasing various components and today I finally received the last of the purchased parts, I feel like a bit of a cheat having paid someone to manufacture these parts when looking at the awesome DIY builds that I have seen but I really wanted this to look and feel as authentic as possible... so here is what I have amassed so far :idiot: THROTTLE UNIT JUNGHANS BO-UK-1 - Authentic and would love to know what aircraft it was originally in  SEAT - Made from Glass Fibre INSTRUMENT PANEL The rest will be built be me in an effort to redeem myself , I need to finish off the design of the cockpit to make sure that the modular design works as intended and then I will start building it. Hopefully by the time the DCS Fw190's cockpit has been shown the structure will be finished and I will be able to position all the cockpit buttons and dials exactly as they have :smartass: Anyway thanks for reading and I will keep you posted on its progress... :pilotfly: P.S. Deadman Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Stunning work build as detailed as you want it and build the best you can. If you can afford some one to make a very technical part for you. Go for it and proud of what your able to accomplish with the means available to you:thumbup: https://www.shapeways.com/shops/a-10c-warthog-supplies https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.

Hypo Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Hi JG52Krupi Where did you get your seat made? It would make a good replacement for the seat I use in my Akers and Barnes inspired cockpit. ~S~ Hypo
Krupi Posted March 24, 2013 Author Posted March 24, 2013 I have now added contact details to the first post, the seat came from aeroart. http://www.aeroart.de/de/detail.php?artikelID=309 (Use his contact email h.rienecker(AT)googlemail(.)com as the site is no longer being maintained) Windows 10 Pro | ASUS RANGER VIII | i5 6600K @ 4.6GHz| MSI RTX 2060 SUPER | 32GB RAM | Corsair H100i | Corsair Carbide 540 | HP Reverb G2 | MFG crosswind Pedals | Custom Spitfire Cockpit Project IX Cockpit
Hypo Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Thanks for the added information. Your '190 is looking good. I think you are doing it the right way by out sourcing getting parts made. This is what I did when I got a Spitfire instrument laser cut. I could have never done the great job the laser cutters did for me. And I got to watch them cut it:) Now that ED are going to release a '190 your simulator will be great to have. Enjoy building your simulator. ~S~ Hypo
Krupi Posted March 24, 2013 Author Posted March 24, 2013 Very nice, I hope they will make a spitfire and a Tornado/Tempest one day as well  But I am struggling to find a good place to find the 190 cockpit atm  Windows 10 Pro | ASUS RANGER VIII | i5 6600K @ 4.6GHz| MSI RTX 2060 SUPER | 32GB RAM | Corsair H100i | Corsair Carbide 540 | HP Reverb G2 | MFG crosswind Pedals | Custom Spitfire Cockpit Project IX Cockpit
Hypo Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 What do you mean by ATM? I know this might seem an odd place to look for German aircraft parts, but http://spitfirespares.co.uk/home.html might be worth a look at. Jon at http://www.spitsim.co.uk might also might be able to make you a custom part. He is a master engineer and can hand make practically anything out of metal, if you have the plans. I like your Spitfire Spade Grips. I was building a Spitfire simulator for IL-2 and then Cliffs of Dover. With the demise of CoD I have moved over to DCS and the P-51. Hopefully ED will release a Spitfire and a ME-109 in the future. This would really bring in the warbird/prop pilots who were expecting big things of CoD. I know DCS is a primarily a jet sim, but there is a market for a good warbird/prop sim and ED can do it. With their partnership with The Fighter Collection they've get access to the real aircraft; http://fighter-collection.com/cft/564-2/. The P-51 vs a P-51 is great to fly in dogfights and it shows the potential DCS to become a prop sim. I used to love flying Falcon 4.0. Returning to a jet sim is cool. My plan is to first build a P-51/generic prop sim then a jet sim. Performing carrier ops with the F-18 is something I would love to do:) ~S~ Hypo
Krupi Posted March 25, 2013 Author Posted March 25, 2013 atm = at the moment (sorry just got in the habit of using it ) Yes I am in the same boat as you, with Cliffs of Dover gone and 777's Battle of Stalingrad not looking like my cup I needed somewhere to hang my hat. I really do have high hopes for DCS WW2 Warbirds :) it will be great when more aircraft arrive and new theatres/maps :D Windows 10 Pro | ASUS RANGER VIII | i5 6600K @ 4.6GHz| MSI RTX 2060 SUPER | 32GB RAM | Corsair H100i | Corsair Carbide 540 | HP Reverb G2 | MFG crosswind Pedals | Custom Spitfire Cockpit Project IX Cockpit
Hypo Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Doh! I should of realised what you meant by ATM:doh: Are you looking for blueprints of the FW-190? There is a US company who re-produce blueprints. I will try and find the website link for you. Yes, I hope DCS and its 3rd Party Developers can deliver what they are promising. DCS is our only real chance of a decent WWII combat simulator. IMHO I believe maps/theatres are the biggest concern. I don't know how long it took ED to design the new theatre, but it seems years between the original LOMAC was based in the Crimea and the a new map being released. Can we expect ED to be able to design and release a WWII theatre? Maybe a North Africa map or somewhere in the Med? No offence intended, however Afghanistan would make a good place for a map. It would be good for the fast jets and helicopters and a good, fictitious, WWII map too. I fly X-Plane over this country and it is rugged and beautiful to fly over. As I say, no offence intended, but it is a relatively small country to model and has some wonderful mountain ranges and terrain. ~S~ Hypo
ED Team NineLine Posted March 25, 2013 ED Team Posted March 25, 2013 Search ebay, there is a guy that sells all sorts of blueprints complete with CAD files and such. Think he is in Australia though. Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**
