DieHard Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 I was in my chute admiring the stars in a DCS_World Multiplayer mission on the 74th's server. I must say, Tyger knows what dark is. I saw the constellations, the Big Dipper and the North Star in between Cassiopeia where it is supposed to be, though slightly out of alignment. Also saw Orion. I was wondering if the star field was in synch with a real star chart? And then are the locations of the constellations seasonal, separate positions as to the seasons' changes and hourly changes? I bet they are. I would think the stars and night time sky are part of DCS_World and not mission editor based. I fly the Ka-50 at night a fair amount in combat sorties. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
159th_Viper Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 I would think the stars and night time sky are part of DCS_World and not mission editor based. Based on lunar calendars and dependent on mission day as entered in the mission editor. Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? Evil.Bonsai Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Is the star field a new thing? I thought I looked closely at it previously and never noticed actual constellations. Only recently did I notice Orion and the Big Dipper as well.
Robin_Hood Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 I'm pretty sure it was already in Flaming Cliffs 1.12. I remember locating Polaris (via the Big Dipper). I haven't looked closely lately, but I remember that an issue was that the stars all shone with the same intensity, making it difficult and awkward to figure them out. 2nd French Fighter Squadron
