Cookie Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Tired of newbies? Hell no, the more the merrier. Fetch a beer, sit down and relax with the rest of us. Oh, and do want a steak or a burger? As for tips... have you received the TM Warthog already? In case you haven´t, make sure to videotape yourself when you unbox that thing. I for one couldn´t stop giggling like a little girl for ten minutes straight when I wrapped my hands around it for the first time. - Two miles of road lead nowhere, two miles of runway lead everywhere - Click here for system specs
cichlidfan Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 I tried to take pictures when I unpacked mine but I got too excited, and forgot about the camera. I only ended up with one picture of the box and then one of the thing on the desk before I attached the stick to the base. EDIT: For Helios, go to http://www.gadrocsworkshop.com/downloads ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero, i7-6700K, Noctua NH-D14 Cooler, Crucial 32GB DDR4 2133, Samsung 950 Pro NVMe 256GB, Samsung EVO 250GB & 500GB SSD, 2TB Caviar Black, Zotac GTX 1080 AMP! I've got two AMD Radeon HD 6950 cards and in crossfire mode I get Graphic issues, I can't remember the technical term for it now but they are like long thin triangles shooting out from the corners of objects in the cockpit. Corrigan Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 The TIR might drive you bonkers the first 10 hours or so; you should expect some motion sickness and silly motor responses. After a while it will come as completely natural to you though. The brain is awesome. Win10 x64 | SSDs | i5 2500K @ 4.4 GHz | 16 GB RAM | GTX 970 | TM Warthog HOTAS | Saitek pedals | TIR5

After a while it will come as completely natural to you though. The brain is awesome. I got my first Track IR many years ago, at that time it was the Track IR3 - before they even had come out with the vector expansion. I get very motion sick very easily, in fact, I cannot even play FPS games for this reason - within about 20 minutes of playing one, I am so sick at my stomach, it is just not worth it. For whatever reason, flying sims and racing sims do not bother me. I have only been flight simming the last few years. Anyway- when I ordered that first Track IR all those years ago, that was a big concern of mine - the motion sickness, I was afraid I might not be able to use the thing because of that. I was very pleased once I got it and started using it, it had no effect at all on me in that regard. FreeFall Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Actually, with flying I was totally comfortable with TrackIR5 from the first beginning. Default profile. No problem. It did feel natural to me. I'm not an IRL pilot though. However, haven't used it with rally/car racing because somehow I cannot take corners accurately with it. I think that overall the TrackIR experience is very personal/individual.
Faelwolf Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 You've got a great set up for this sim. Once you get used to trackIR, you will find yourself turning your head to get a better look while watching videos :) I think you will find this to be a very welcoming and patient community!
Harzach Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Once you get used to trackIR, you will find yourself turning your head to get a better look while watching videos :) So true! "Look over there, dammit! Oh, just give me the controls!" :joystick: Welcome Walking Dude - you'll find this community to be very supportive to new members. You're going to have a pretty sweet setup!
Zenra Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Heck no! Every time somebody new signs on and starts asking questions I learn (or maybe relearn) things I thought I knew. Congrats on getting a great rig to work with - will make the learning faster and definitely immerse you in the sim. No I didn't take pics, but I was overwhelmed by the whole setup. What a quality built setup! Have you had any graphics issues with the crossfire option? I haven't even loaded the game yet. Was waiting on the second monitor and the trackIR. And the A-10 manual. MAN what a monster that is. I thought the F-4 manual was imense! With the second monitor, do I hook it up to the first vid card or the second vid card. Will let you know I have issues with the graphic issues. Did you contact AMD about the issue? THANKX all for the warm welcome. I cant wait to fire this whole rig up. I have to do some moving around of the puter, drill a 2 inch hole in the desk so I can run all these cables, put the puter in the knee hole. Cant wait to fire this all up!
ApoNOOB Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 Be one of the cool guys... And join the TeamSpeak of every MP server that you join! :D I've got a little newbie question too, I have a slower onboard graphic card too, would that one take load from my "normal" one if I plug one of my two monitors into that? (Don't have Instruments or MFCD's on it, just TS, .pdf's etc.)

Walking Dude Posted April 1, 2013 Author Posted April 1, 2013 I have two vid cards in crossfire. And I just bought a touch screen monitor for two monitors. Do I hook each monitor to each vid card?
bart Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 I have two vid cards in crossfire. And I just bought a touch screen monitor for two monitors. Do I hook each monitor to each vid card? I'm not sure. The way my system works is you only plug one monitor into the primary graphics card, I have a 32" Sony flat screen tv connected via a HDMI cable, the sockets in the secondary card have small plastic blanks in there to stop anyone connecting anything to it. Has your touchscreen got USB? If so I'd use that. I've just ordered two Lilliput 8" screens to use as MFD screens with the Thrustmaster Cougar MFD's on them. They are USB so only problem I will have is setting it up and getting it all to work!! No I didn't contact AMD about the graphics glitch I've got in crossfire. I tried updating the drivers etc, but was unable to get rid of it other than disabling x-fire. The game still runs ok on one card, I get stutter when using CBU's but I belive this is a known issue. You will enjoy the game much better with all the hardware you're getting, I'd hate to fly it without mine, it's high workload as it is!!! System :- i7-12700K 3.6 GHz 12 core, ASUS ROG Strix Z690-A Gaming, 64GB Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 3200MHz, 24GB Asus ROG Strix Geforce RTX 3090, 1x 500GB Samsung 980 PRO M.2, 1x 2TB Samsung 980 PRO M.2, Corsair 1000W RMx Series Modular 80 Plus Gold PSU, Windows 10. Harzach Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 I have two vid cards in crossfire. And I just bought a touch screen monitor for two monitors. Do I hook each monitor to each vid card? With Crossfire, all displays plug into one GPU.
