LcSummers Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 Hello, as i read in the newsletter, dcs will run in the future only on 64bit systems. So i decided to update my win7 32 bit to win7 64 bit (including more RAMs 16GB). This means that "only" my OS and my RAMs are being updated, modified. But before doing this, my question is: 1, Do i have to deactivate my modules, dcs A-10C and the P.51? 2, Will i loose an activation key because of upgrading? Thanks alot and DCS is worth to update my rig. S! LC
Luzifer Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 I'm not a dev, but... You definitely won't lose an activation if you deactivate before upgrading. I'm not sure whether changing the OS on the same hardware will require a new activation, but if you want to be certain, just deactivate before.
LcSummers Posted April 3, 2013 Author Posted April 3, 2013 Thanks Luzifer for your kind reply. I will go the safe way and deactivate the modules. Thanks
KillaALF Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 As detailed in the quickstart guide a new activation is required if the hardware/software changes exceed 12 points. In theory, your proposed changes should cost you 9 points (RAM = 6/Windows PID = 3) so you should be ok without deactivating it. OTOH you get 10 deactivations for each serial, so as you said, better safe than sorry and use one.
BigfootMSR Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 Per serial key, you have 10 activations, and 10 de-activations. If you ever run out of activations, you will automatically be granted another activation 30 days AFTER you used up your last one. SO, technically, you cant ever run out :) DCS: A10C Warthog JTAC coordinate entry training mission http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/99424/ DCS: Blackshark 2 interactive training missions http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=84612
LcSummers Posted April 4, 2013 Author Posted April 4, 2013 Thanks guys for your help. I was uncertain but i will deactivate it because the OS remains, it will change only to 64 bit. Its better for me knowing to be on the safe side. Salute LC
