Guest ThomasDWeiss Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 I got these updated for 1.1.1 - they now take in account the lower PK of AAM, Flankers fly with ten AAM and Fulcrums with only six, so Fulcrum missions are inherently harder. The Fulcrum pack has 10 missions on the NATO side (Luftwaffe's MiG-29A or Ukraine's MiG-29S) 11 on the Russian (MiG-29S) AWACS orbits are now also better. Fulcrum 2.1 pack Flanker 2.1 pack these missions difficulty level increases as the missions develop and they provide a good training for the Carrier Ops pack.
bSr.LCsta Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 I had to put the carrier ops away as the 6th mission was unplayable due to lag from too many units (had to be over 100 combined AI groups), and the fact all missions were 1 vs 3-5 bandits was not very realistic. Is this one the same? If so I will pass.... Unfortunate, because I like the way you set up the packs with the briefings and all, but I guess the main difference is the type of missions we like to fly. For me I would rather fly 100 easy yet successful missions with the same pilot, rather than fly the same mission 100 times because it is so difficult that it plays out like a FPS were each life you get a little further than the last until you have finally put all the tricks and timing together into a success. I must have lost 8 pilots in the first 5 missions, and failed most of them because of my wingman. :( is this ok?
Guest ThomasDWeiss Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 To tell you the truth, I found them easier. When you fly from a Carrier on an offensive mission you are much longer exposed to enemy SAM and fighters. I am at the second half of these pack missions (hunting for an AWACS, almost got it, then I lost SA and got hit by a MiG-29A that sneaked behind me! ) and changed my tactics a bit: 4 R27R, 2 R27T and 4 R-73 no ECM 100% fuel, engage enemies sooner too and I ignore their Radar guided AAM after a quick chaff release and I am getting to my surprise much better PK than before. Some missions I flew with the Flanker, some with the Fulcrum - those were harder. The key is to let friendly SAMs shoot down enemy fighters before trying to engage them, I only attack those few that got past it. When I finish it - I'll go back to the Carrier Ops, maybe some tweaking is needed there.
