Nate159 Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 What computer do you recommend that matches all the recommended system requirements for DCS World?
cichlidfan Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 The fastest i5 you can get (overclocked), 8GB memory, GTX 580 or better (but not much gain to be had after that), and an SSD large enough for Windows and DCS. ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero, i7-6700K, Noctua NH-D14 Cooler, Crucial 32GB DDR4 2133, Samsung 950 Pro NVMe 256GB, Samsung EVO 250GB & 500GB SSD, 2TB Caviar Black, Zotac GTX 1080 AMP! Extreme 8GB, Corsair HX1000i, Phillips BDM4065UC 40" 4k monitor, VX2258 TouchScreen, TIR 5 w/ProClip, TM Warthog, VKB Gladiator Pro, Saitek X56, et. al., MFG Crosswind Pedals #1199, VolairSim Pit, Rift CV1
Pyroflash Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 (edited) Wait. The new Intel Haswell chips are set to come out in a few months, along with the new Nvidia 780's. 8 GB RAM is a MINIMUM amount, more is always nice if you are one of those people who never closes anything down. An SSD is really nice to have, but still not really economical when compared to platter drives. PSU and mobo should be of GOOD brand names (Corsair, ASUS, etc.), and be in the professional or enthusiast ranges (this will cost you more, but it is worth it to have a good PSU). Also needed is a good case (for airflow and cable management reasons, a good case is important, especially if you plan on overclocking). Personally I would say that a medium tower ATX case is a pretty good investment. Lian-Li and Antec make some pretty quality cases. If you plan on overclocking a ton, liquid cooling is a good thing to have. At this point, you can either choose the easy to install closed pipe systems or go with an open pipe system. The self-configurable open pipe systems require more work to install, and are a bit more bulky, but can be customized to a user's individual needs. Despite what uninformed people may say, liquid cooling uses non-conductive liquid, and will not harm your computer in any way, shape, or form, should it break. It will, however, cause any attached component to overheat quite rapidly, and will cause a system crash at some point shortly thereafter. Possibly more important though is a good HOTAS and rudder pedals. Your best investment is going to probably be a HOTAS Warthog, CH pedals, and a Track IR 5 w/ trackclip pro. There are cheaper peripheral routes, and understandably, some of this is quite expensive, but it is worth it. Edited May 22, 2013 by Pyroflash If you aim for the sky, you will never hit the ground.
Rhinox Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 What computer do you recommend that matches all the recommended system requirements for DCS World? The one that matches all the recommended system requirements: Recommended system requirements: Operating system 64-bit: Windows Vista and 7; Processor: CPU: Core 2 Duo E8400, AMD Phenom X3 8750 or better; Memory: 4GB; Hard disk space: 7 GB; Video: Shader 3.0 or better; 896MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX260 DirectX 9.0c or better; Sound: DirectX 9.0c - compatible; DirectX: 9.0C; requires internet activation. I can not help but laugh every time I see it is still (!) on dcs-webpage. I would not call it even "minimal system requirements"! Playin DCS on such a system is pain in a**. I know, because I tried it and I'm still having nightmares...
