Cobra99 Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 I am no longer able to open, save or save as a mission from the mission editor. I uninstalled and reinstalled everything and performed the update. Upon entering the ME the first time everything works. Subsequent changes and tries fail to allow any changes. The icons turn blue upon selection but that is all. Leaving the ME prompts to save but when clicking the yes button nothing happens. I saw one other unanswered post (probably in the wrong section of the forum) regarding this issue Regards, Cobra
ED Team c0ff Posted May 30, 2013 ED Team Posted May 30, 2013 Check write permissions to C:\Users\<YOU>\Saved Games\DCS It stores all game settings, and is the default location to save missions. Instead of reinstalling, try renaming this folder - this way you'll keep your files and settings safe, but DCS will start like on a new system. Dmitry S. Mustang Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 I encountered this problem once a while ago, I solved it by removing the MissionEditor folder from C:\Users\<user>\Saved Games\DCS and allowing DCS to generate a new one. 1
Cobra99 Posted May 30, 2013 Author Posted May 30, 2013 (edited) I appreciate the quick response. Unfortunately the ME still doesn't want to cooperate. Is it possible that an antivirus program such as Norton 360 could be causing the issue? I installed that 3 days ago. I encountered this problem once a while ago, I solved it by removing the MissionEditor folder from C:\Users\<user>\Saved Games\DCS and allowing DCS to generate a new one. Thanks to both of you. The solution appears to be what Mustang suggested to do. We are back up and editing. NB. Spoke too soon. Works the first time then no save functions. As an Admin I am still not able to change the properties of the folder from read only. Uncheck it, apply says ok. Look at the properties again and they are read only....Confusing Edited May 30, 2013 by Cobra99
Wolf Rider Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Right click on the Saved Games folder, then select Properties and the Security tab. Highlight the username entry (there will probably be two other entries, being System and Administrators, present) and let us know how many and which entries in the 'Permissions for username' section have a tick beside them. Cobra99 Posted May 31, 2013 Author Posted May 31, 2013 Attached are the screen captures of permissions for both system and myself. The current workaround is to load a mission , edit and then save. Then to continue to do anything I must delete the mission editor folder and I have the ability to open and save again.permissions.doc
Wolf Rider Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 kkk, that looks good... is the tick box for the Saved Game folder, Read Only; clear, a blue square or a tick? Are you running Windows 7_64bit? What is the install location of the sim itself (ie have you installed it to the default directory)? I'm not familiar with 360... it may or may not have some affect.
