BVR tactics?

Recommended Posts

Any good instructional material out there for BVR tactics?

I hear the F-15C is supposed to rule this arena but not when I'm flying. Must be something I'm doing wrong.

There is only one important rule to remember.

That is the same for every fighter you will ever be flying.

Make sure you have the advantage, if your in doubt, disengage.

For the rest, practice, and research the different radar modes on the plane and what they are intended for.

(can't explain cause i only fly the russian jets)

PS,

for the FC3 manual navigate to your DCS World installation direcotry and go to;

I would say that F-15 is the best in BVR, but with FC, the pilot is a big factor. If you have mo experience in the Su-27, you can do much better in that plane and vice versa. The Flanker cockpit might as well be in hieroglyphics sometimes in my mind with metric units and strange instrument placement compared to the F-15.

Anyway, there are good vids on youtube, but I don't have time to search now. Another issue is, are you flying SP or MP? Things can be quite different between the two because of the AI.

Awaiting: DCS F-15C

This is extremely relevant and important if you are flying as a lone wolf !

There is nothing at all wrong with disengaging to re asses the situation.

If you have your fangs out and you think you are invincible when you leave your home i promise you. you will not make it back.

Having the SA along with a plan of what your doing in the sky with you AC makes a huge difference.

Having even just 1 wing man can make a "HUGE" difference as to whether you survive or not. And I mean a very big difference.

Is the F-15 the best @ BVR ? Pilot skill is what its all about.

I made this video showing a 1v1 between an F-15C and an Su-27. It shows some basic fundamentals of BVR:

Yes I saw that one. It's pretty good
