When I tested Mission 2, the objects at the foot of the reservoir failed to appear. However, when I pressed Esc and restarted there they were and the game ran fine.

Operation Censure

May 1992. A militarily reinvigorated Republic of Ukraine has occupied Krasnodar Administrative Region and part of western Georgia. Danish troops as part of UNPROFOR-BS (UN Protection Force – Black Sea) have established a buffer zone east of the 41st Meridian (running north-south through the city of Suhumi) in order to prevent the conflict from spreading. As the Ukrainians have failed to comply with UN Security Council Resolution 6600, calling on them to withdraw immediately and unconditionally all forces from the illegally held areas, NATO aircraft will now impose a no-fly zone over the entire region and commence limited attacks against carefully selected economically important targets.

You are leading a flight of F-15Cs of the 52nd FW operating out of IncirlikAB in southern Turkey tasked with enforcing the no-fly zone and escorting strike packages to targets as assigned by ESCOM (NATO/US Eastern Command).

Mission 1 Suhumi CAP

Day 1. 07:00 Hrs. You are leading Dodge 1 flight maintaining a CAP at 15,000ft south-west of the town of Suhumi (SP1 to SP2).

A UN observation post, manned by Danish troops, located on the northern outskirts of Suhumi has reported Ukrainian Su-25 ground attack aircraft firing on targets near the town of Gvandra (43 03 N 40 02 E). Another Su-25 has been circling in the area acting as a Forward Air Controller (FAC).

You must destroy the ground attack and FAC aircraft. Be advised that enemy troops dug-in to the west of Suhumi are equipped with MANPADs.

Your call-sign: Dodge 11

Weather is fine, 40 F with sky clear.

AWACS available. If required, a KC-10 tanker is currently on station (SP4 – SP5) south of the CAP location at 18,000 ft.

Emergency landing field: SukhumiAirport (SP3).

Mission 2 Strike Escort to the Ulu-Sala Reservoir

Day 2. 11:00 Hrs. The first objective on the ESCOM target list is the hydro-electric power station just below the dam at the Ula-Sala reservoir (SP3 on your pre-programmed route).

ESCOM Military Intelligence at Oxymoronlovovka have reported that its only defences are 23mm AA guns located near the towers on the dam itself, although the Ukrainian Air Force could well launch Su-27s from its air base at Kirovskoye.

Tornado bombers of RAF 617 Squadron will attack the target. Two Tornado aircraft will precede the main attack in order to suppress the AA guns on the dam. Your task will be to act as escort flying above and ahead of the strike package. Intercept and destroy any Ukrainian Air Force aircraft that may interfere with the operation. The mission will not be considered a success until the power station has been destroyed.

Your call-sign: Pontiac 11

Weather is fine, 45 F with sky clear.

AWACS available. If required, a KC-10 tanker will be on station (SP4 – SP5) at 11:25 Hrs 40 nautical miles south of Jalta at 20,000 ft.

Emergency landing field: not available.

Mission 3 Strike Escort to Kirovskoye Air Base

Day 3. 09:45 Hrs. The Ukrainian Air Force is continuing to contravene the UN imposed no-fly zone by allowing their Su-27s and MiG-25s to fly from Kirovskoye Air Base. This mission finds you already en route escorting a package of Triple Nickel F-16C Strike/SEAD aircraft, whose task it is to shut the air base down permanently. Your job will be to protect the package from attack by enemy aircraft that may already be airborne.

Kirovskoye Air Base is currently defended by a SA-6 SAM battery.

Your call-sign: Uzi 11

Weather is fine with scattered cloud at 3,000 ft, 55 F.

AWACS available. If required, a KC-10 tanker will be on station (SP4 – SP5) at 10:10 Hrs 40 nautical miles south-east of Alupka at 21,000 ft.

Emergency landing field: not available.

Mission 4 SEAD Escort

Day 4. 11:20 Hrs. A Ukrainian Clam Shell radar unit associated with an SA-10 SAM site just to the east of the town of Lenino (45 18 N 35 46 E) has been illuminating our aircraft as they patrol the no-fly zone.

You and your wingman are providing an escort to a pair of 555th Fighter Squadron F-16C SEAD strike aircraft. They have orders to put the radar out of action if it is switched on again. You are to ensure that no enemy aircraft interfere with the strikers.

Your call-sign: Colt 11

Weather: overcast at 2,000 ft, 50 F.

AWACS available. If required, a KC-10 tanker will be on station (SP3 – SP4) at 11:40 Hrs 100 nautical miles south-east of Jalta at 20,000 ft.

Emergency landing field: not available.

Mission 5 Sochi CAP

Day 5. 15:30 Hrs.Your wingman has just come off the tanker and you are about to refuel when AWACS reports contacts airborne in the no-fly zone. Danish observers in Suhumi have also reported seeing a Ukrainian Air Force FAC aircraft circling near the town of Verhniaia Jeshera (43 04 N 40 54 E). Connect to the tanker, which is currently in your one o’clock position, take as much fuel as you think you will need, and then attack the bandits.

AWACS available. If required, the KC-10 tanker will be on station (SP5 – SP6) for the duration of your CAP 70 nautical miles south of Sochi at 18,000 ft.

Your call-sign: Pontiac 11

Weather is fine with scattered cloud at 2,000 ft, 55 F.

Emergency landing field: SukhumiAirport (SP7).

Mission 6 RESCAP

Day 5. 10:15 Hrs. You are leading Chevy 1 flight maintaining a two-ship CAP at 20,000ft 70 nautical miles south of the town of Novorossijsk.

The pilot of a Royal Danish Air Force F-16A, carrying out Battle Damage Assessment near Lenino (45 18 N 35 46 E), has just ejected having been shot-down by a SAM – possibly an SA-8. An SH-60B helicopter, already airborne from the frigate USS Oliver H. Perry, has been diverted to the area to pick up the downed airman. A RDAF on-call CAS flight (two F-16As armed with AGM-65Ds) has been directed to find and destroy the SAM site.

AWACS have detected enemy aircraft, possibly MiG-23s airborne over the Sea of Azov. Your task is to protect the rescue helicopter.

Your call-sign: Chevy 11

Weather is fine, 45 F with scattered cloud at 3,000ft.

AWACS available. If required, a KC-10 tanker will be on station (SP3 – SP4) at 10:40 Hrs 70 nautical miles south of Kerch at 21,000 ft.

Emergency landing field: SukhumiAirport (SP5).
