Not so much fun with SFM and Keyboard, LOL.

I Have a Loooooooooong List of things I need to do to the external Model, once the Pit is basically laid out for the coders to have fun with.

Just a Small update tonight (busy busy at work so 3d time is limted.)

Rebuilt the Engine Exhaust Feathers, And re-animated them more accurately as well.

They are TONS More Accurate than the Previous Rebuild of the exhaust (see previous screenshots). The Animation is also more realistic looking as well, might adjust it so it closes more.

Also Uses new shiney/reflective stuff too. Not to worry, those ugly parachute line covers will be replaced/deleted. Also need to do some backfacing/adjustments. but vastly improved (and Lower Polys too)

I have a question conerning the sound for the F-100:

Do you guys plan to use real sound recordings for it? Or create the sound in another way? (I admit I don't know much about sound recording and stuff, and I don't know what possibilities there are.)

I heard or read somewhere that the F-100 has a very distinctive "bang" when activating its afterburners. And its engine is very loud.

Is the sound in your video already a custom one or did you use the one of the F-16 or something?

EDIT: Here's a video with a afterburning F-100 where you can hear the bang.

I'm looking forward to this plane very much!

Careful What you wish for

(Obviously Still WIP, as the base textures all need adjusting.)

Looking great! Maybe a bit less blue but as you said, WIP!

Just a quick update:

(Some of it Copy/pasted from my FB Studio page)

Been a bit since I posted an Update...

RE: Cockpit:

Right now I'm working on Panels and the Actual Base Tub for the F-100D Cockpit.

The Tub is being a bit difficult, As I'm Used to building external meshes.

So I'm basically having to learn how to do it from the beginning, So it's taking longer than expected.

Once the Base Tub is Done, I can start to build up around it/inside of it and add details.

Once the base tub with some details is done, I'll begin moving the Panels from the Panels Scene to the tub and get a package together for the coders to have their fun. (no time frame on that).

Problem with the Pit, (other than I'm still working on getting the pit to take shape) is there isn't exactly clear diagrams.

There are images w/ panel names in the manuals, but there are no flattened diagrams that aid in building the basic tub shape, Everything is off angle drawings/diagrams/images.

Right now Im studying the Side/Top View Cross Section Diagrams (as the side view has lines for the panels and ejection seat, as well as the top),

and from there I will start to draw reference lines to form the pit shape.

A Last ditch effort would be to purchase a accurate scale model cockpit kit, Cut it in half, and use a marker to trace all the corners/edges, take side/top images, load into 3ds Max and Trace the lines in the images to form the Tub shape.

RE: External Shape:

The Pit from the External model isnt accurate, and once the Main cockpit mesh is done it will be poly-reduced and dropped into the external model.

I have a Long list of corrections/cleanups that need to be done on the external mesh, some items will not be fixed.

I'll compile the list when it's finalized. Some items are easily fixed, while others require extensive work.

The External mesh also needs to be cleaned up from front to back in regards to smoothing, alignment and basic shape accuracy to the 3 Views.

There are also "Effects" tied into the 3d Scene itself (Afterburners, and some others not revealed yet), that will be cleaned up.

Some Animations also need to be re-done. (Tail Skid Plate, Aux Air Vent, Tail Hook, Drag Chute Details Etc)

Once the Top LOD External is cleaned up, I'll Start re-doing the Lower LOD's again, as well as creating a sectioned off collision shell for the wings etc.

Then start working on damaged parts/meshes.

Once I Get back to the external mesh things will move a bit quicker, as that is where I'm more proficient.

The Systems Coders will prolly be working on the Basic Systems while I'm Overhauling the External Model.

Other Notes:

I'd also like to point out, during certain seasons/times of the year, my available free time to work on 3D Art is dropped to limited and in some cases none.

This is beyond my control, as those reasons involve job, Climate that inhibits PC being on 24/7 and taking care of my father who is disabled and requires more attention than previously thought after his Cardiac Event, Surgery and Stroke a few years back.

I also have personal commitments to sports and sponsored gaming events.

Progress is being made, just at a slower pace than when I first started on modifying the 3d Model last Winter.

Skate, I truelly understand your reasons keeping this a free project.

But I think you might be surprised what will happen if you put in a donation option or even begin with kick starter ;)

Your work looks awesome, and I am a big fan all ready.

Think a lot of us will be watching and waiting ;)

Better Video (Longer Etc)

I cannot stress how much this is a WIP, Flight Model, 3d Model, Textures, Everything

Still using the Empty Cockpit folder trick to see all animations, so that's why the computer still shouts at me. lol

Working on Fixing some issues with the landing gear collision today, decided to add back some of the details I took off the original model (had issues with smoothing etc).
