What processor?

Recommended Posts

I've just picked up a 4200+ X2 and an X1800XT, and I have to say... the X2 is damn good. I do, however, still need to get the RAM sorted, as it's been carried over from my old machine and appears to have... issues. Timings had to be really slow to stop it from falling over - no more TwinMOS RAM for me - GeIL and Corsair all the way!

Hi,

I'm starting to think about upgrade my processor (an Athlon 64 3200+), my aim is for gaming performance, mainly.

I have three choices:

1) Athlon 64 FX-55 (which is really expensive for my budget, so it's a little off my sights)

2) Athlon 64 X2 4800+ (for me a real shoot in the dark as I don't know if Lomac can use all it's power)

3) Athlon 64 4000+ (among three, the cheapest but I don't know if it's worth the upgrade, since I have a 3200+...)

So, what do you recommend? I'm expecting to order it next month.

Thank you ;)

In single core (Lomac/FC) you better go with the FX-57

Anyway check it out:

Guys, I have an oportunity in sight: A friend is offering me an Athlon X2 4400+, I'll return him my A64 3200+...

Well, the question is: Considering that Lockon is a single core game, does that means I'll be using "only" a 2.2Ghz core right? Well, my current processor operates at 2.0 Ghz, so can I consider a gain of only 0.2 Ghz? I know there might be other differences between the A64 and X2, but are those differences noticeable on single core applications?

Does anyone at all by Intel at all these days? Really If I was an Intel exec and I took a look at gaming forums like this and others I would be worried. Quite simply Inetl is getting it's butt kicked on the gaming front and has for a while.

Intel is nice if your room is cold. The heat generated by the processor warms up the room nicely.
