Charly_Owl
An Il-4 and a Yak-9??? GOOD GOD! We need these! Especially since we've had no bomber love from ED lately. 3D models are amazing. I hope ED brings these incredible models to life. Note: After reading through the thread, it appears that the I-16 and the Il-4 were originally planned for Battle of Moscow, the cancelled sequel to Cliffs of Dover. However, these models could be re-used for the un-announced expansion to Battle of Stalingrad. signalman
So it looks like the Yak9U and the La-9 were being built for a possible inclusion into DCS but money may have killed it for now. I doubt seriously that DCS would use any work created for another company if they were paid for it like the IL4. It would have to come from scratch but it is great that it has atleast been researched. The Eastern fronts air war doesn't get the recognition of that on the Western front but it was huge with large losses on both sides. Air ground support was especially critical and widely used on this front. I'm sure lots of air battles occurred in our current map but with earlier aircraft than the Dora. Hans-Joachim Marseille
So it looks like the Yak9U and the La-9 were being built for a possible inclusion into DCS but money may have killed it for now.You are assuming this? The bit in Russian mentions they were made for 777 Game Studios (IL2: BoS). Before new planes are being added to the theater, we need a theater to play in ("What about the map?"). NRG-Vampire
So it looks like the Yak9U and the La-9 were being built for a possible inclusion into DCS but money may have killed it for now what was the problem ? maybe the price of the cockpit models were too high ? or missing/wrong animations ? :dunno:
WinterH
Generally speaking, I am more fond of axis and some of western allied warbirds. Still, I would probably be interested in a Yak-3 or Yak-9U. Both beautiful and very potent fighters. I am somewhat less enhusiastic about La-5 series but then again, performance wise it is one of the best players of war, so should be interesting too. Buuuut... since we have and will have a lot more of fighters already, wouldn't a version or two of IL-2 be rather neat :P ? Of course, that'd need a Ju-87D and G to go with it :P Damn so many stuff to want :) When we look at studios that have announced warbirds, currently we only have ED and VEAO, and to be honest, they both seem to have their hands a bit full for forseeble time anyway. May be other developers will also come up with a few oldies though, who knows may be we'll see some Russian warbirds too :) Wishlist: F-4E Block 53 +, MiG-27K, Su-17M3 or M4, AH-1F or W circa 80s or early 90s, J35 Draken, Kfir C7, Mirage III/V DCS-Dismounts Script
fastfreddie
what was the problem ? maybe the price of the cockpit models were too high ? or missing/wrong animations ? :dunno: From what I could tell from the site that Nick10 provide with google translate the Yak9 and La-9 were in some process of development but the money wasn't right or something. They didn't really go into any detail and were very vague. Check the link Nick10 provided and they also had a built out for the Me262 for DCS shown also. WinterH-I hope Veao can pop some older frames out quickly because I don't see where the P-40 is going to fit in right now. It would get slaughtered against the Dora and K4. Of coarse with the Bearcat being slated for next year the Axis planes will have their hands full.
Pandacat
I would rather see a pacific theatre before Russian one. WWII carrier ops and sea battles are my favorites. Also, the sims focusing on Russian theatre are already very well portraited in Il2 series.

Grim_Smiles
Odd statement I see on the link provided: UPD, solution of all issues proved a hoax. We no longer have anything to do with Eagle Dinamics. We are open to suggestions, again. Sounds like one heck of a falling out, so guess we won't be seeing their stuff in DCS. Wonder if this was over the RRG thing? Pandacat
Yes, we need WWII carrier ops in DCS, the joy of landing these things on a normal runway, I want to land on a carrier deck :) But I think as a smart business planning, ED should go Korea after completing WWII 44. There are several benefits with Korea theatre: 1. Small map size (compared to Russian front or pacific theatre) 2. Fewer aircraft types (honestly, you only need f86 and mig15 and we already have a good working F86. Air to air combats occurred very little to other types such as F80, F4F and p51 etc) 3. Probably easy access to accurate plane info and data. (come on, famous Mig15. There gotta be pages and pages of data out there for this jet) 4. Easiness to achieve completeness of this theatre and campaign (Korean war was shorter and smaller in scale compared to WWII.) One disadavantage about Korean war theatre that I can think of is that the conflict was pretty dominated by infantry fighting on the ground. So far I haven't seen anything significant on putting infantry into DCS (well, no flight sim so far paid a lot of attention to modeling infantry anyway). But this concern is very minor. Just my 2 cents.

From the september Update: DCS: MiG-15Bis Coming to DCS World As a perfect bookshelf match to the F-86F Sabre, Belsimtek in cooperation with Eagle Dynamics are developing the MiG-15Bis for DCS World! As with the Sabre, the MiG-15Bis will be a fully detailed module with Professional Flight Model (PFM), mouse-interactive cockpit, and detailed cockpit systems. Combined with new maps, the battle of Sabre's vs. MiGs will be an amazing experience and further help us achieve our goal of providing an air combat experience spanning several decades.
