I sincerely doubt the part in bold. Everyone who bought FC3 bought it through ED's website. All they have to do is see which users have FC3 in their account and issue Steam CD keys for the DCS World FC3 modules (Su-25, A-10A ect.). Just like they did for those of us who bought A-10C/BS2/UH-1/P-51 on the ED website.

For future purchases you can get 5 keys; 1 for FC3 and 1 for each of the individual Steam modules of the included aircraft.

Moving from FC3 to the individual modules will cost you the MIG-29s and SU-33 in the long run, and the F-15C/SU27 arent done yet.

The only SAFE way to use all of FC3 is to use the Non Steam version.

And a kitten!

I'd Rather have Kate Upton

Please help, i have Black Shark 1 + Upgrade BS2

Steam keeps saying: "invalid product code"

Are there any known issues with Black Shark Upgrade?

Yes:

Dear all,

Today we were informed that all DCS activation keys purchased through Eagle Dynamics, with the exception of the Black Shark 2 Upgrade, have been merged to Steam.

I just want all my own modules can auto update from steam. Include FC3.

The FC3 part will not ever happen.

The ONLY version of FC3 that will be available on Steam will be for the Russian market only due to a license issue. This will not change.

Stop complaining. ED were nice enough to merge keys to make it compatible...but due to their old business model with module updates...BS1-BS2, FC3...it can't all be transferred. They aren't stealing your cd key away and forcing you to re-buy on steam...its a choice. If you buy a game on ubi shop...do ubi give u a key to add it on steam? No developer (except CD projektred) bothers to do that. Get real and stop asking for free stuff.

I agree and thanks ED again to give us Steam key for already purchased product.

But I am sorry, who's asking for free stuff here ?

As far as I am concerned I just would want to know if, as a FC3 owner, I will be able at anytime in the future to activate DCS FC modules on Steam as I have them included in FC3 for free on standalone DSCW.

I know FC3 can't be transferred on Steam due to license restriction, but DCS FC modules aren't.

And by the way, several developers did transfert customers keys to Steam lately :

SCS : Euro truck simulator 2

Squad : Kerbal Space program (they even find a way to revoke keys from standalone store)

FTL : Faster than Light

Gamedev Tycoon

Eagle Dynamics : DCS stuff :D

...

Of course I am happy enough already that all my other DCS modules are now on my Steam library, I just want to know about these famous Steam DCS Flaming Cliffs modules as I bought FC3 after it was stated we will get futures DCS : FC aircrafts for free.

And again I am not whining or asking for free stuff.

I already hesitated to buy FC3 because of the lack of clickable cockpits and previous mods support, so how about buying DCS FC aircraft twice to have them on Steam ?

So, I think I will wait and keep a standalone installation beside Steam version in the mean time on just to be able use FC3 and these DCS modules enhancement.

Hope it makes things clearer. :smilewink:

Keep in mind... No one ever said future flaming cliffs aircraft will be free. You should not be expecting that. Ed can't give away everything for free. I would predict that the remaining two aircraft for fc3...tbe mig 29 and su 33 will be individual aircraft.

The feature list of flaming cliffs 3 does not say anywhere that it includes a life long update compatibility with other flaming cliffs aircraft.

Basically what he said ^ - IIRC, FC3 aircraft are planned to receive the AFM updates, that's all.

I for one would love it if they provided keys to their new individual FC aircraft on steam, because I bought FC3 before they even announced they'd be going to steam, but, I'm not expecting it at all.

Now the Black Shark 2 Upgrade issue, THAT is quite annoying and I think they handled that terribly. Why we can't surrender our BS1 + BS2 uprade keys for a BS2 Full key is beyond me.

Well no, clearly if new or substantially updated aircraft are released with features up and above those promised to FC3 users (whether in the original features list or by the ED team on the forums), clearly they should not be free (e.g. DCS MiG 29 or SU-35 - Flaming Cliffs), but if we are just talking about chopping up FC3 aircraft and parcelling them up so as not to infringe any UBI IP so they can be released on Steam, then I can understand why a lot of people are a little perplexed as to what is so difficult about enabling interoperability.

FC3 will never be on Steam, that's fine, there are good and logical reasons that is the case. However the only reasons advanced as to why it's impossible to grant access to modules are duplicate keys (other developers have operated key surrender programs), it would cause unspecified legal problems with sidestepping the UBI contract (if that was the case, it would likely be just as much an issue having new users without Lock On as giving access to FC3 users who have already paid the UBI tax), or unsupported assertions that it's "just never gonna happen".

I suspect that impossible is being used as shorthand for "it's just too much effort to bother with, we'd rather take the good will hit", which is ok, ED have made great strides by transferring what they have, but they could at least be honest that it's just too administratively difficult rather than assert that it's impossible and that the community are fools for even asking.

Personally, I'm ambivalent about the whole thing, it would be nice but I'm happy to be outside Steam for now, though you only have to look at the FC3 announcement thread to see the depth of feeling some people had/have about being "nickel and dimed" by the various FC versions, so I can understand why some people are less than understanding.

Yes....future aircraft as well as the current other FC3 aircraft missing from the planned modules. i.e., DCS: Su-33 Flaming cliffs and DCS: Mig 29C Flaming cliffs. They are part of FC3, but I am sure if ED update them finally with AFM and full 6dof cockpits... we shouldn't expect them for free. All that takes resources to make. They were never part of the initial FC3 features list, so I wouldn't expect ED to offer them for free....nor should they. Being such a niche developer, they can't afford to give stuff away for free. They have employees who need to be paid monthly salaries.

Athlonic....that post was about the Su 27 and F-15 which was announced to obtain AFM right after the release of FC3...so noticibly..people were pissed off after paying 40$ for FC3. But the mig and sea flanker will probably not get that treatment for free.

personally...I think its time ED just discontinue FC3 and release future stuff as DCS : xx FC modules. Atleast that way future customers do not get added to this mess.

I suspect if they thought that door was open to them at the time they would have done it that way to begin with. I'm assuming the revenue from FC3 helped fund the work that made it possible to now sell FC3 aircraft separately.

In my opinion, it is because of the following that BS2 upgrade owners ought to be given some consideration regarding getting their copies on Steam:

http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1318335&postcount=3

No, BS2 will not be sold via Steam.

11 March 2011

I had assumed all hope was lost with Steam and ED working together again so I stopped bothering with Steam's versions of the products and switched to using ED's store, for both BS2 Upgrade and the P51 (the latter I'm truly grateful that ED has made possible to activate on Steam).

Now that Steam is in the picture again though, it feels a bit unfair to be asked to pay another $40 for BS2 again to be able to use it there. Maybe it's OCD but it doesn't seem right to use the Steam version when I have access to all my purchased modules except BS2.

I know there's no obligation on ED to go that route but in my case and I'm sure I'm not alone it would go some way to creating more good will towards ED and in reality that translates to a willingness to put money down earlier for the next modules. Happy customers are a resource.

That's why I bought the upgrade at all. DCS World came out, BS2 was only available on the ED store, I already had BS1 from Steam, and I wanted them all in DCS World. So I bought the upgrade.

Why wouldn't I? Seems a totally reasonable thing to do. And now, I'm being told that I won't be able to have BS2 in the Steam version, when my original BS1 is in Steam, my A-10C is in Steam, and BS2 is available on Steam now.

What??
