ShaZe88
very awesome to see the implementation in steam. It really helps increasing the amount of exposures, really a good move from ED. I got one question though, I believe that any mods will get "broken" on every few updates, maybe not since I don't remember it happening with my current DCS World installation, however if it can happen, would it be possible to have perhaps a "Mod" folder within the main directory or maybe some kind of mod manager to make sure that the modifications does not get removed? Somethings cool is that now it is will be much easier to fix a build if a mod somehow damaged the installation :P
joey45
Also BS2 upgrade wasn't supported at first when world was released... So I hope the BS2U will work after the teething period. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. cichlidfan
For those interested in such things... As of today's update Steam now shows F2P games in your library if you own any DLC for that game. So now DCS World will show in your library even if it is not installed. Pepec9124
I've got question regarding Steam DCS. Is it up to date ? I mean same version as standalone. I see some benefits and would like to convert. Edit. Nevermind, it's not accepting keys. Edited August 31, 2013 by Pepec9124

cichlidfan
The Huey hcan be activated in Steam, but I can't use my old serial from digitalcombatsimulator.com. Any word on that? There was a key issue with the first batch of Steam releases as well. Apparently, this is a more difficult feat to accomplish than one would think. ;) ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero, i7-6700K, Noctua NH-D14 Cooler, Crucial 32GB DDR4 2133, Samsung 950 Pro NVMe 256GB, Samsung EVO 250GB & 500GB SSD, 2TB Caviar Black, Zotac GTX 1080 AMP! TimeKilla
I tried the same and got an error too, I think it might take a bit of time to share the database am sure our keys will work if they're going to add support like the rest of modules on steam. :joystick: YouTube :pilotfly: TimeKilla on Flight Sims over at YouTube. JackDant
The Huey hcan be activated in Steam, but I can't use my old serial from digitalcombatsimulator.com. Any word on that? The Huey cannot be activated in Steam. You can purchase it there, but its not on DCS when you start it up. So you can pay but not play

Gigidang
... Now the Black Shark 2 Upgrade issue, THAT is quite annoying and I think they handled that terribly. Why we can't surrender our BS1 + BS2 uprade keys for a BS2 Full key is beyond me. It's not only a steam problem. It' really a pain in the ass with this update. I just set up a new system a few months ago. You have to install BS1 in order to play BS2 every time and you don't really need BS1 anymore. Why isn't there a possibility to switch the keys for BS1 + update with a new BS2 key? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
ED Team NineLine Posted September 4, 2013 ED Team Share Posted September 4, 2013 +1 This has been said so many times by so many people without ever getting a response from ED. The logic is beyond me. But there must be some reason.. its surely extra admin for ED as it currently stands. It sometimes seems the older and more loyal a customer you are the more you get a raw deal. How is that a raw deal? Because you have to install Black Shark 1? Being dramatic are we? Gigidang
How is that a raw deal? Because you have to install Black Shark 1? Being dramatic are we? It would be much more comfortable, it takes a lot of time to install Black Shar 1 and it takes hard disk space. It's just annoying to install a game which you are not going to play. It can't be that hard to support us with new keys. And, of course, we can't play BS2 on steam... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
ED Team NineLine Posted September 4, 2013 ED Team Share Posted September 4, 2013 I bought the update back then as well, I understand its an update which means it means it requires something or else it would be a full version. When I reinstall everything, and I have to install BS1 I only get mad at myself for not buying the full version ;) As for disk space? Well... if BS1 is causing you problems with diskspace you probably need to consider an update because its like a flea spec on my 2 TBs :) It would be much more comfortable, it takes a lot of time to install Black Shar 1 and it takes hard disk space. ED Team NineLine Posted September 4, 2013 ED Team Share Posted September 4, 2013 Thank you for sparing me your education ;) No not being dramatic. Are you trying twist my words? It has nothing to do with having to install BS1 1st, that does not bother me. As you are quite new sithspawn maybe you don't know the background. I'm not interested educating you. SkateZilla
not to sound Pessimistic, Installing BS1 takes a few minutes. After BS2U is installed you can remove BS1 (?) TBH, When's the last time we saw changes in the Changelog for BS2?, (other than the 1.2.6, knee board command adjustments) Unless there's mini updates that adjust it for every patch. Install BS2 Upgrade to Standalone DCSW, Activate it, Copy the BS2 Folder to the Steam /mods/aircrafts/ Folder, Delete DCSW Standalone Folder. (Dont uninstall, as it *may* de-activate the module) Play BS2 in DCSW on Steam Shrug, If there needs to be updates to the files, Hopefully Steam, see's the files and updates them automatically, without BS-2 being in your list of purchased DLC. If not, there are "ways" to update KA-50 by itself using included files in the /bin/ folder. without touching any other DCSW Files. Ramjet
do the updates get pushed out over steam if you are using steam, or still using the dcs updater? One of the most attractive reasons for me considering switching to steam is the uber-slow dl speeds of the updater.
