DCS eating almost all my RAM

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I got a big probem with DCS, since a pretty long time.

DCS is soaking almost ALL my memory. In task manager, I see only 300Mb or so used by DCS, but 7 out of 8 Gb of my RAM are generally used when DCS is running.

Physical memory is only 1.3Gb, but virtual memory is more than 3, all of it being used by DCS. And this is at idle situation (no heavy missions, etc etc).

What kind of virtual memory set up should I get?

Any clue ? That's can be pretty annoying since Windows keep triggering alert message.

Thanks.

Maybe I don't understand what your problem is, but DCS doesn't use 7-8 GB on your machine.

1.3 GB are used by your system and programs, 3.5 GB are reserved for DCS but only 0.4 GB are actually used. Another 0.3 are on standby for applications. 2.8 GB are unused.

That's pretty normal, IMHO.

Reserved memory doesn't mean it's used.

For most programs Windows allocates as much memory as possible. Standard is 1/2 of your memory. If you have other major programs running, the available resources will be lowered accordingly.

Yeah I screwed with Windows themes and I have to get the default W7 theme (I got W7 x64).

It does not use 7/8Gb in the screen I gave, but on heavy situation, it does (7Gb max) - at least, in the task manager, I see 7Gb being actually used.
