Nvidia GTX560 Ti enough for DCS?

Recommended Posts

Anyone here using a GTX560Ti for DCS? If so, how does it handle the graphics load, specially down low while flying the Huey or the A10.

I have an option to purchase a GTX560Ti at a relatively good price. I currently have a ATI HD 5870 1GB which runs my other sim RoF at maxed out settings without a hiccup, but DCS FPS is horrible. Researching the ED forums, it is a common consensus that DCS favors Nvidia cards over ATI. I know that moving from a ATI 5870 to a Nvidia GTX560Ti is as at best a lateral move, but the price is just right for me. And if it lets me play DCS at acceptable FPS, it will be worth it.

My CPU is a AMD Phenom X6 @3.5GHZ and 6 GB of DDR3 RAM.

Dell XPS 7100 = AMD 1075T Phenom II (6 cores @ 3.0ghz). 6 GB DDR3 RAM. AMD HD 5870 1 GB, Win 7 64 Bit, Track IR 4, X52 Pro, CH rudder pedals. 22" Dell Full HD LED monitor.

I have this card, GTX560Ti, with also a 2500K processor OC to 4.6 and 8 gigas RAM memory at 1600 with a 27 monitor running at 1920x1080.

All settings are in high ( shadows, visibility, water, Heat blur).

I have pretty good FPS inside A-10C cockpit, around 45-55 FPS in most cases, only when i turn on mavericks or tgp, at some point FPS could drop a little but only for a while.

On UH-1H i have less FPS, around 35 FPS on ground runways and parkings to 45 FPS flying.

i´m considering to purchase more powerful graphic card, 670 or 770 but i´m very happy with my actual rig.

Wondering about getting a cheaper GTX card for my other PC. How much memory is it on this GTX-560Ti of yours?

Hi.

I have GTX560. Not Ti. But the box says it's overclocked to 900 Mhz. Anyway. My settings are the highest and I have no FPS problem in any module but UH-1H.

Since last patch, FPS is gone down noticeably...

i have evga 560ti , with 4 gig ddr3 1600 , core i5 2500k (3700) 1920*1080.with high setting average is 55 frame but i have fps drop when use shkval and around airports for about 20 frame.

Esac_mirmidon may you take a shot from your setting and post it here please?

also let me know overclocking 2500k would make change in performance.

evga760sc w/ acx cooler for $256 is overclocking and getting higher scores then the stock 680..... pretty bad ass considering the gtx680 was $500 at release.....

keep in mind that a killer cpu is much more important in the flight sim world....dont buy a $800 card...put that money towards saving up for a i7 @ 4.3ghz ..........DCSis maxed out untill they multi-thread further....you will never runs mass scenarios till they move the AI and script system to their own core...or create a bubble system......unless you have three or more monitors runing at 1080....you will not see massive need for a titan with DCS right now....

It only takes two things to fly, Airspeed and Money.

I might be wrong but I think higher video memory helps in games like DCS. I have a GTX 560 Ti at 1gb and a friend of mine just bought a GTX 660 at 2gb. The rest of our systems are very similar but he seems to run the game much smoother then I am.
