Hi All,

I have been using an old Dell Inspirion 525:

Duel core E5400

6 gig ram

Nivida GT 430 1 gig ram

1 27 " monitor for main screen and one 17" for shkval

I get 15-20 FPS if I am lucky.

Thinking of this new system = Budget $1500

Processor: Intel® Core™ i7-4770K Processor (4x 3.50GHz/8MB L3 Cache) - Intel Core™ i7-4770K w/ Intel Performance Tuning Protection

Processor Cooling : NZXT Kraken X40 Liquid CPU Cooling System w/ 140mm Radiator

Memory: 16 GB [8 GB x2] DDR3-1600 Memory Module - Corsair

Motherboard: ASRock Z87E-ITX -- 4x USB 3.0, HDMI, DisplayPort, Wifi + Bluetooth

Power Supply: 500 Watt - FSP 1U 80 Plus Gold Certificated Power Supply

I tell you what I'd do:

1. switch i7-4770K for i5-4670K and thus saving ~100 bucks. Basically, the only difference is hyperthreading which is of no use for DCS.

2. what I saved on CPU I'd invest in better GFX, i.e. instead of GTX760 I'd buy GTX770.

3. I'd pick higher-rated PSU. These GFX-cards take >200W, plus CPU ~100, and you might be on limit. I'd go at least 700W-way.

4. Better MoBo! Asrock is low-end, I'd take something from Asus, with updated chipset (Z87/C2). And of course full-size board with plenty of expansion slots, not some crappy ITX-board! You have to take care of good cooling, so you need space, not all components crapped together with GFX blowing hot air directly on chipset cooler...

Asrock is no longer low end. My asrock board p67 extreme4 is rocking a 5ghz overclock as I type this.

Would this be better than the first system? Upgrade case, mobo, and power. Had to get rid of the SSD and lower RAM to save $. I want the 4gig 760 for multi monitor. This still should be upgradeable and a large improvement from my current PC.

There's nothing wrong with windows 8. Its basically the same as 7. I've had no issues with 8. 8.1 is coming soon. hopefully with built in boot to desktop which was the only thing I didn't like about 8.
