When can I expect to be able to download the following.

File Name: DCS_World_1.2.5.16184.220_226-2.bin

File Size: 1.86 Gb

MD5: 149e452481738c43b173c6bb1c257e4e

I just spent 6 hours trying to get it from the Russian site, only for it to be corrupted. This is just not acceptable. How do you expect to run a web site this way?

It's the internet- downloads get corrupted in transmission, and it has nothing to do with the web site. Depending on your packet size, 1.86GB is hundreds of thousands, if not millions of individual transmissions of data between wherever you are, and a server possibly halfway around the world.

One packet in those hundreds of thousands is lost in transmission- the file is corrupted. That's life on the internet with big files. Happens to every website and every user at some point.

Get a download manager, or download the torrent version (as by its nature bit torrent has automatic packet error correction built in due to the method of transfer).

ALL of you missed the point of my post. My main question is why the file can't be down loaded from the USA site. The message pops up that says the site is not available. Just get it fixed. This is not any way to treat members or customers that buy this sim, and cannot get it installed without a bunch of hassle.

No, we got that. But you failed to get the important point: it is not in the hands of Eagle Dynamics of how well your internet connection - or any node in between you and them - is working or not. ED is not responsible for the internet. Maybe your internet provider screwed up? Maybe a sea cable was broken and eaten by a shark? Or a satelite crashed?

But if you are having so much troubles with that site, why don't you just try another mirror? Like one in the U S of A? http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/world/dcs_world/

try the German one?

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

1.I don't believe that my internet connection has anything to do with whether Eagle Dynamics DL links are working or not.

2.Because none of them are working.

It can essentially be everything between your location and the location of the servers. It can be your PC, your router/cable modem, the routers of your internet provider, the company which runs the backbone, dozend other companies who are involved, and yes, even the internet provider of ED or ED themselfes with their server. It can be ONEHUNDRETTHOUSAND different things.

But you "don't believe" it is on your side. Instead you "know" it is on EDs side.

Open a command line prompt and enter this command:

tracert ftp1.files.eagle.ru

and post the output here. This will output a list of internet nodes where all the data packets go through on the way from your place to ED and vice versa. Then we can analyze where the problem lies.

Help me to understand how I could DL all of the other files if the problem is on my end.

What is the exact error message you get when you select a DL mirror and click download?

Then also post the output of the command here which I mentioned in the other posting. This can help to determine if the problem really is on your side, or maybe your internet provider or somewhere else.

In the mean time, if you are familar with BitTorrent and have an appropriate download manager installed, you can use the link provided at the bottom of the download page, as lunaticfringe suggested already in this thread.

This is what I get.

The red line is the message that I get when trying to DL

Allright, now I understand better why you say it is EDs fault. In fact, the server is reachable for you. But then the server says, he doesen't know the file you want to DL.

Try a different web browser, please. And if that works better, tell us which browser you were using initially - because one could really consider this a bug on EDs side then as such an incompatibility can be a configuration issue of the server.

I am using Firefox, tried to use IE, but I was unable to dl anything. I went back to Firefox and was able to dl any of the other files, but again not .bin 2. This is why I said that the problem is on ED's side of the operation.

I tried it by myself now. Earlier I had no problems at all ... but I was using the first link (the -4.bin). But now I think, I tried exactly what you did. And yes, once more, you are right ... the download mirrors for -2.bin seems to be broken. BUT! I actually had success when I selected the russian mirror (#2)! At least it is still downloading ...

Yes the Russian link works, but it takes about 8 hours and it is corrupted when I get it. I don't know why some admin cant look at this and offer a solution.
