Revencher Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Have you guys ever considered a MMO version of this game? If you teamed with Bohemia Interactive you could rule the market for flight sims and mmofps. the way i see it, you set it up a lot like World War 2 online (but dont let Cornered Rat in they'ed f up a wet dream). you would have 2 high commands made up of players running the campains. they would control production, strategy, coordinating battles and player created units would fall under their comand. players would be able to spawn in it where equipment and men have been placed but only with equipment that is placed in that area. so you couldn't spawn in as an M1A1 in a town unless M1A1's had been placed there by High Command. you guys have flying sims and ground vehicles locked down but Bohemia Interactive has an awesome Infantry set ups. I would be willing to pay a sub for this but you could mak it FTP by using xp to unlock equipment, weapons and vehicles.
dooom Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 heh - only those of us who played wwiiol would know what your talking about. CRS was tantalizingly close with their dream of a player controlled battlefield but it certainly went out in a blaze of ****. ... not before taking 12 years of monthly subscription dollars out of my pocket though... :) ASUS Tuf Gaming Pro x570 / AMD Ryzen 7 5800X @ 3.8 / XFX Radeon 6900 XT / 64 GB DDR4 3200 "This was not in the Manual I did not read", cried the Noob" - BMBM, WWIIOL
Wichid Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Once the new graphics engine is done and the dedicated server is released the MMO style may come down to some enhancements to the scripting engine and a fancy mission maker =) Lyndiman AMD Ryzen 3600 / RTX 2070 Super / 32G Ram / Win10 / TrackIR 5 Pro / Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS & MFG Crosswind Rudder Pedals
Archaic Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 I was an alpha and beta tester for WWIIOL. Played the snot out of that game... :( Always wanted a modern version. I think that's the direction DCS is heading with its module releasing. Problem is integrating the detail levels necessary for infantry, and making the flying aspect playable. i7 - 9700k | EVGA 1080Ti | 32 DDR4 RAM | 750w PS | TM Warthog HOTAS/X-55 | Track IR 5 |
Injerin Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 I've been saying this for a long time and agree OP. I played WW2ol as well, great concept. I always liked the dynamic battle lines. I'm pretty sure in the future this is going to become a reality with systems being able to handle it. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Revencher Posted August 21, 2013 Author Posted August 21, 2013 I'd be fine with lower graphics in an MMO of this type. i dont need grass every where or anything like that, just a LARG map with lots of peps and a war =)
XtraChrisP Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 Hmmm... not sure a lot of FPS twitch shooters (not the most patient of souls) are going to be lining up to be the white blob in the center of a TGPs crosshairs. Prob not a lot of fun to have a GBU hit you in the forehead from 18000 ft
Revencher Posted August 22, 2013 Author Posted August 22, 2013 FPS twitch shooters wouldn't be intrested in a game like that. but people that play armma ww2 online and games like that would love it.
