phoenixmage Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Hi all, Been quite some time since I have had time for DCS but since I last played I have upgraded significantly and now have 3 x 27" screens running 7680 x 1440. When I launch into cockpit whether it be training, instant action or campaign after configuring the monitors in options as 3 monitors at 7680 x 1440 the game attempts to put my in the cockpit my game crashes with the error below and then dumps me back into the DCS launcher. When I run a single screen at 2560 x 1440 all seems to go ok. I am running Catalyst 13.4 which is the latest non-beta. Thanks for any help. phoenixmage Posted August 26, 2013 Author Posted August 26, 2013 make sure you have full screen unchecked? Thanks for the suggestion. When I uncheck fullscreen I get 2 out of 3 monitors with the main monitor moving from the center screen to the right hand one and the left view in the center with my taskbar at the bottom of the screen. My left hand monitor is still showing as my desktop.
SkateZilla Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 How exactly are your screens setup Eyefinity or Desktop Extended? in DCS is it setup using 1 Viewport configuration or 3? I cant seem to find it, but I think DirectX 9.0c has a Resolution limit, IM not sure, but it maybe like 7000px (will look for it, as Im not entirely sure) Windows 10 Pro, Ryzen 2700X @ 4.6Ghz, 32GB DDR4-3200 GSkill (F4-3200C16D-16GTZR x2), ASRock X470 Taichi Ultimate, XFX RX6800XT Merc 310 (RX-68XTALFD9) 3x ASUS VS248HP + Oculus HMD, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS + MFDs
phoenixmage Posted August 26, 2013 Author Posted August 26, 2013 It's running extended desktop running as 3 view ports in dcs
71st_Mastiff Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Just meNs you don't have the lua set right " any failure you meet, is never a defeat; merely a set up for a greater come back, " W Forbes "Success is not final, failure is not fatal, it is the courage to continue that counts," Winston Churchill " He who never changes his mind, never changes anything," MSI z690 MPG DDR4 || i9-14900k|| ddr4-128gb PC3200 || MSI RTX 4080S|Game max 1300w|Win11| |turtle beach elite pro 5.1|| ViRpiL,T50cm2||MFG Crosswinds|| VT50CM-plus rotor Throttle || G10 RGB EVGA Keyboard/MouseLogitech || PiMax Crystal VR || 32 Asus||
SkateZilla Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 You could Try making an Eyefinity Screen, and run single viewport. But DCS Does crash in that manner if the MonitorSetup LUA has bad calls/typos Windows 10 Pro, Ryzen 2700X @ 4.6Ghz, 32GB DDR4-3200 GSkill (F4-3200C16D-16GTZR x2), ASRock X470 Taichi Ultimate, XFX RX6800XT Merc 310 (RX-68XTALFD9) 3x ASUS VS248HP + Oculus HMD, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS + MFDs
phoenixmage Posted August 27, 2013 Author Posted August 27, 2013 ok, I have now modified the lua and I have the 2 working screens in the correct order but my left hand screen just doesnt seem to get attached and I still get the desktop.

PeterP Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Please give us this four files/infos: 1. Please post a DxDiag.txt (here is a 'how to' >>> http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.ph...97#post1839097 ) 2. And post a screen-shot of you Desktop layout . Example: 3. And your options.lua (C:\Users\>YOUR USERNAME<\Saved Games\DCS\Config\options.lua ) 4. And your "monitorsetup.lua" that is in use . (..\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Config\MonitorSetup\>your used file<.lua )
phoenixmage Posted August 31, 2013 Author Posted August 31, 2013 Hi PeterP, Sorry for taking so long to reply. Please find files attached. Regards DxDiag.txt options.lua MonitorSetup
Kuky Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 (edited) Left = { x = - screen.width / 3; y = 0; width = screen.width / 3; height = screen.height; viewDx = 3; viewDy = 0; aspect = screen.aspect / 3; },ditch the "-" (you can't have negative coordinates - this has been said many times in many guides and threads) and set your main monitor in windows desktop properties as most left one PS: for triple screen (all 3 monitors positioned in left/center/right config), use default 3 Camera setting Edited August 31, 2013 by Kuky No longer active in DCS...
PeterP Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 (edited) Yes, your "MultiMonitor.lua" is broken. Fix this as Kuky wrote. Also read here to get a better understanding how the 'monitorsetup.lua' works. >>> http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1469638#post1469638 No need to set your left screen as main when you use the 'Phantommonitorfix'. Tip - place the exe or a shortcut of this skript it in your startup folder , C:Users>User Name<AppDataRoamingMicrosoftWindowsStart MenuProgramsStartup to lower your workload . So it is loaded when your system boots and you don't have to manually start it any more. - It uses no measurable recurrences and only gets active when DCS.exe is loaded. But it would be better when you would create a Eyefinity group - so all 3screens are detected as a single one , so you can run full-screen. (you can also save this mode as pre-set in CCC - so you can switch easily and don't have to set up every time you run DCS.) Keep also in mind that the 3Camera setting is not really made for a planar TH setup. It is made for at least angled displays or , much better, a . - it also eats up a lot of resources , as the scene get rendered three times. This post explains a lot : http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1426370#post1426370 If you suffer of low frame-rates I would suggest you run the 1Camera setting. - but not in landscape, as the possibility is high that you will also run into other problems with your FOV: Try instead portrait, because combat flight sims are not '2 dimensional' - so having a narrow band in the horizontal will not help you much with your situation awareness. - sure , you can fly a big air-liner like this - but not a combat plane.
