toby23 Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 (edited) Dear ED Team or anyone who can help, I am developing high resolution ground textures based on aerial ground photography from the Sochi Adler region. The seasonal tiles are ready and I am about to start work on the urban tiles but I have a problem that I need to solve first. I have edited the noise_1.bmp.dds files and these display correctly in DCS World. The problem is that there is another texture laid over all ground textures, a seasonal coloured noise texture that I cannot find. Q. Where is it and what is it called? It looks like blend_noise.bmp.dds but it's not. At the moment, it is discolouring my textures as you can see in the images attached. I tested the first two with a plain 50% gray background (see image 3) in Spring Season. The fourth image is a screenshot from Summer, which also has slight discolouration. Images have been scaled for posting and have lost some of their original fidelity. Your help is much appreciated. Toby Edited September 5, 2013 by toby23 1 Ryzen 5800X, 32GB RAM, RTX 3060
toby23 Posted September 24, 2013 Author Posted September 24, 2013 Ok, I've been patient and waited two weeks but no answer? Really? Can anyone who understands how DCS World works help out here? It's for a good cause... Ryzen 5800X, 32GB RAM, RTX 3060

Lizzard Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Oh I think the Devs do read through the Forums from Time to Time, but I think they are not really interessted in giving anyone a deep look in their Coding of DCS..it`s their Work..their Baby:) My Specs: I don`t care..it is a Computer..a black one..

They should want to show Toby how cute he/she is :) 'Frett'

HungaroJET Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 ...or anyone who can help here i am :) next time PM me if you need some help ;) what you are looking for that is the noise texture it is placed everywhere on the map (if no noise texture - you will get the missing texture all over) name: noise_1.bmp.dds you can find these (got 4 seasonal texture) in \DCS World\Bazar\Terrain\vfstextures\LandTextures"Season"Other.zip Atop the midnight tarmac, a metal beast awaits. To be flown below the radar, to bring the enemy his fate. HAVE A BANDIT DAY ! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] "When I'm working on a problem, I never think about beauty. I think only how to solve the problem. toby23 Posted September 24, 2013 Author Posted September 24, 2013 Hey HungaroJet, Thanks but that's not it. As I mentioned in my first post, I already replaced the noise texture with my own (stones and grass). There is another seasonal noise texture being layered over all other textures. What is it? Ryzen 5800X, 32GB RAM, RTX 3060
HungaroJET Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 (edited) There are two or more textures on same place. If one of them missing then you will get the missing texture. I think the other texture is grass_n_8.bmp.dds Moreover if you see from distance then program use another texture from LandTexturesSpring.zip or LandTextures"Season".zip On the first screenshot you can see the missing/removed land_l2_-9_23.png.dds texture On 2nd pic no noise_1.bmp.dds and no r_for_t.tga.dds texture in the forest On 3rd image only the noise texture removed ps.: I did not try/check your texture mod yet, (so i dont know exactly) but maybe the format of your noise texture is not proper Edited September 24, 2013 by HungaroJET Atop the midnight tarmac, a metal beast awaits. HungaroJET Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 What you see on upper-left corner of your image, that's the blurry "washed" land_l2_-9_23.png.dds texture from LandTexturesSpring.zip or LandTextures"Season".zip As I write earlier there are many textures on same place Atop the midnight tarmac, a metal beast awaits. To be flown below the radar, to bring the enemy his fate. HAVE A BANDIT DAY ! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] "When I'm working on a problem, I never think about beauty. I think only how to solve the problem. toby23 Posted September 24, 2013 Author Posted September 24, 2013 That's it... thank you very much Hungaro. In future, I'll contact you via PM, now that I know who to contact. Ryzen 5800X, 32GB RAM, RTX 3060
HungaroJET Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Without the land_l2_-9_23.png.dds texture you can see the grass_n_8.bmp.dds on the same place: Atop the midnight tarmac, a metal beast awaits. HungaroJET Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 (edited) That looks like noise1 to me, that's the texture that I edited. Yes, you are right i removed the wrong one  That's the noise texture without the small land texture :) One more: if you see Zaelu previous post/images, you can see the different colours not only different mipmaps but different textures as well. (under his coloured textures detailed land textures dissapear and come out/appear low-res land textures from a distance - this works like LOD on 3D models) http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1736272&postcount=348 Edited September 24, 2013 by HungaroJET Atop the midnight tarmac, a metal beast awaits. toby23 Posted September 24, 2013 Author Posted September 24, 2013 (edited) land_l2_-9_23.png.dds texture The land_l2_-9_23.png.dds texture is only used on the F10 SAT map only (see screenshot) when you zoom out to a certain level. When you zoom in, this is replaced by more textures and these are the textures used in the game that I have been looking for. Thank you very much for your help HJ, Toby Edited September 24, 2013 by toby23 Ryzen 5800X, 32GB RAM, RTX 3060
NRG-Vampire Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 toby you should believe in HJ, if you remove the whole landtexturespring.zip - or rename it - then you will see the greyish blurry texture will disappear
toby23 Posted September 24, 2013 Author Posted September 24, 2013 (edited) I've found what I needed thanks to him and now I'm editing the textures... all 3000 of them. Thanks m8 Edited September 25, 2013 by toby23 Ryzen 5800X, 32GB RAM, RTX 3060
