Reinstall/repair the latest vc++ runtimes. If you have a 64bit operating system install both the 32 and 64bit ones. I think DCS World uses Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 so download the latest runtime which is

the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package MFC Security Update

found here:

http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=26999

Download and Install vcredist_x64.exe and/or vcredist_x86.exe

Should fix your c++ error hopefully.

Milli

I've seen it also a few times after 1.2.6. It's fairly rare but it's only happened after the update and I'm aware of at least 5 other people getting it. This along with the ATC problems and ME crashing every other time I use it.

Latest Update -- Causing CTDs

Hello All --- All has been rock solid until this latest update.

Now I get random crashes consistently pointing to dcs.exe "application failure" and commentary about the C++ library having some illegal termination request.

Point is, this should be easy for the devs to spot. Running Win64 on my system --- and again, operation has been perfect, with ZERO crashes, UNTIL THE LATEST UPDATE.

Patiently awaiting fix --- Thanks!!! Bob :D

biggrin.gif I am back flying after following one thread which recommended the following:

1. Click on <Start>

2. Type: CMD click <Enter>

3. Type: CD\ click <Enter>

4. Type: CD Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Bin\ click <Enter>

5. Type: DCS_updater.exe update 1.2.5 click <Enter>

This worked for me (no, I don't know what it does!) and I am back flying. Although it has 1.2.5 in the above command line entries my DCS World still shows 1.2.6.

This should roll you back to the previous version, if it still shows 1.2.6 after doing this, something else is messed up... this is not a fix.

Hello Atalia --- no, I have not tried this YET....wanted to give the devs a shot at fixing the problem first. Wondering if you checked to see if you lost any of the enhancements that the latest (buggie) rev provided??? At least that would tell us what the scope of the "fix" that you executed was....

Thanks!!! Bob :D

What are you doing when you get this crash, are you using any mods? Are you sure all drivers and such are up to date?

Hello!!! When this happens, it is usually within about 30-45 seconds after my mission is loaded and ready to go. I have taken off and am pursuing enemy A/C in the F-15 in any air-to-air mode. So far, I have not been able to tie the crash (system locks up) to any specific action. As far as drivers, etc, EVERYTHING is current in my system. Recall that I noted that everything has been PERFECTLY FUCTIONAL AND NO CRASHES EVER until your latest update was installed. All other heavy applications are running just fine. I am not using any mods. Totally stock DCS install and software.

Many Thanks --- Bob :)

Can you think of a specific action that might be happening when the crash occurs? Perhaps you launched a missile, or a trigger in game fires? Is this a custom mission, or any mission?

Also can you include your .CRASH logs to see if they reveal anything?

So , its valid for 1.2.6 . Replace the 5 with a 6 ?

OK, here is a bit more detail. First, this is a BUSY custom mission which I have previously flown HUNDREDS of times before the latest update. Never a problem.

In this test, unlike my other sorties, I waited on the ground (no control activation) before taking off, for about 5 minutes. No crash.

Next, I took off but did not select any weapons or a/a modes. Chased enemy planes for a few minutes. No crash.

Next, I selected an a/a mode (3 key) and locked up a few targets but did not release any weapons. Few minutes. No crash.

Next, started releasing weapons, selected different a/a missles, exercised all --- no crash. Kept at this for a while but NO CRASH.

Now, I went back to my earlier scenario. Mission loaded. I IMMEDIATELY took off and began pursuing enemy planes, locked up targets and began releasing missles and CRASH! Just as before. Generated crash within 30 seconds of advancing throttle as noted.

The only difference was the timing within the two scenarios. Kept everything else the same. Never had a problem with this before. For what it is worth, I have deliberately tested DCS to its saturation (overload) limits and have never had a crash.

Strange scenario. Sorry, I could not get a crash file to copy over.

Thanks --- Bob

Retro to 1.2.5

Well, no doubt about it. 1.2.6 is definitely problematic.

I went retro to 1.2.5 and all is working just fine again. Very stable and NO CRASHES (ever).

We patiently await a repaired 1.2.6 and its new attributes.

Thanks All --- Cheers, Bob ;)

Well if you guys are all settled back at 1.2.5 then I will call this closed as I cant really help with 1.2.5 anymore. Apollo, your system specs are quite a bit higher than mine and I have no issue running 1.2.6, so I am not sure what is happening.

Badger, I never saw full specs from you so I cant help without more info.

I just got the same twice in a row..it loads up a mission them about 2 to 3 minutes into it It crashes with a runtime C++ error. Never did this before and nothing has changed between the last time I ran it.

I can't find where to get the logs from, If you point me in the right direction I'll post it. I'm running 1.2.6 on a 64 bit rig.
