Revanche AARs

I've been posting some AARs from the Revanche campaign on my website.

I've also just started the deployment campaign in Black Shark 2 (v1.1.1.1) and AARs will be up soon for that, too.

The videos are nothing special - I don't have enough internet speed to make good quality or longer ones just yet.

Good job. I quite enjoyed the read. Makes me want to get back into the frogfoot. But I'm bent on becoming proficient with the shark again and passing the campaigns.

Anyway, keep it coming.

You're missions and after action reports are great!!! Thanks for posting.

Are you pressing the Chaff/Flare button all the time when attacking at low level or using Continuous Chaff/Flare dispensing key?

I find very slow the latter and very hard to do the first method (because I'm concentrated in the target).

I agree with that, splash - I use the continuous release for the same reason.

Would be nice to be able to tweak the release delay.

Thanks for the comments - I'm glad they are okay. I never get feedback, even though I used to ask for it and have an e-mail address up, so I never knew what people think unless I ask on TS or a forum.

I've uploaded the video highlights. Unfortunately there is the odd stutter, but I don't think it's too bad otherwise, except a little blocky. It's only 6:45 minutes but took about 2 hours to get on YouTube.

Even more cool. Thanks for posting the video highlights.

Is your payload the default payload for that mission? I'm surprised they didn't give one of you guys a laser guided missile. Firing rockets from that range is spray and pray.

I'm doing the deployment campaign for the KA-50 right now. I completed about half the missions in that campaign back in the BS1 days, but it's fun to do it more proficiently.

Yes, it's the default load. I made a couple of rocket passes after the Stela was knocked out - think you see it in the video - and there were lots of explosions but nothing actually got damaged.

I flew half the Deployment missions in BS2 before - but rather than start half way through, I thought I'd start from the beginning again. Even though there isn't much to do in the first two missions.

I think it was mission 4 where I kept getting hit and having to crash land. The one where you have to knock out the bunkers first. Will see how I get on this time round.

Think the only proper missions I flew in BS1 were online with some of the guys here.

Yeah I noticed it. From the video a couple of rockets landed where they were "supposed", the rest strayed. I guess the only other way to be more accurate is to increase your dive angle and speed. Similar to setting up for a dive bomb run.

I just completed mission 4 yesterday. Not much to do in that one other than to locate the bunkers and keep out of range of the AAA.

Next mission is Alarm and from what another user said it sounds like you have to be quick with the startup routine. So that will be fun to try again. Hopefully I can pass Mission 8 though, sounds like it's still the problem child I experience in BS1.

Been flying some missions online too, a lot of fun.

I thought there was a problem with that mission - 5 is it?

I read something a few days ago, but I may have been mistaken. Someone was on about getting knocked out by an AK47 - I only assumed it was the one where you have to get out of dodge, because I don't remember this kind of threat from the first 4 missions. Having said that, the 'fix' download was indeed mission 4 (I just checked) - so I'm stumped.

My problem was always getting hit by the AAA in mission 4. I got rid of the bunkers - that was easy, but trying to stay out the way and help with destroying some of the other stuff (is it Iglas or something?) I always ended up losing my hydraulics. Three times, iirc.

Funny - each time I said to myself "I know what is coming and it isn't going to happen this time" - and guess what?

Did anyone ever tell you the definition of insanity? (quote from Far Cry 3 - if you played it, you know what I'm on about).

Good luck

I read that about the Alert mission recently, where it is night time. In BS1 there was no ground fire hitting you and you could gingerly start up the helo and get out of there.

I'm currently on that mission for BS2 (haven't tried it yet). I haven't downloaded the fix yet. Going to see just how quickly I can get her in the air.

For mission 3 (the bunker destroying one), I didn't bother going in after destroying the bunkers. I just hovered there (I was honestly waiting for the guy to tell me to roll in and support them) and after an explosion and some smoke the ground commander said thanks for the support. :music_whistling:

I'll do that - thanks for making it FC3 ready.

I was about to fly it in FC2 when I stumbled across your file on the DCS website.

I'm going to give that Troposphere mod a go, too. I was just thinking on the last mission, that the weather always seems to be too nice in all the default missions. I do like a bit of an aeronautical challenge ;)
