ChiefRedCloud
I've purchased the P51 via Stream and it works fine as far as I can tell. Do I need or should I install DCS World also? I noted that MY listing before install for P51 said it was DCS World. Confusing to say the least. [sIGPIC]http://imageshack.com/a/img13/175/kqzs.png[/sIGPIC] R.E.D. Echo38
Hey, Chief! Glad to see you finally got it. Yeah, you should install World. It's the program into which you "plug in" all your aircraft modules. The stand-alone versions are no longer being patched, only World, so while you can use the stand-alone if you don't mind an out-of-date version, World is pretty much necessary for multiplayer and stuff. ChiefRedCloud
Thanks Echo ..... and here's a follow up question simply because I like to "try" and line my ducks up before pushing buttons. Even though my Steam version of P51 Mustang works fine (as far as I can tell), I've been told that the better way of handling all of this is to A) Install P51 Mustang from DCS download and use the key from Steam. B) Then download DCS version of DCS World. Can you or anyone confirm or what ever this? :joystick: [sIGPIC]http://imageshack.com/a/img13/175/kqzs.png[/sIGPIC] R.E.D. ChiefRedCloud
I have version 1.2.6.18933 Showing in my Steam version of DCS World. But the download section on this sight shows version 1.2.6.18651. So ... Steam has a different version or which is newest? [sIGPIC]http://imageshack.com/a/img13/175/kqzs.png[/sIGPIC] R.E.D. Ramsay
I've purchased the P51 via Stream and it works fine as far as I can tell. Do I need or should I install DCS World also? I noted that MY listing before install for P51 said it was DCS World. Confusing to say the least. If you can fly the P-51D there is no need to download DCS: World as it is part of the install. The P-51D Module is the P-51D Cockpit, Aircraft systems, Advanced Flight Model, Missions, etc. DCS:World *is* the airfields, terrain, mission editor, etc. that the P-51D fly's on/over. You should also find the free Su-25T and missions installed and flyable. I have version 1.2.6.18933 Showing in my Steam version of DCS World.[/QUOTe] 1.2.6.18933 is 1.2.6 update 2 But the download section on this sight shows version 1.2.6.18651. So ... Steam has a different version or which is newest? 1.2.6.18651 is 1.2.6 update 1. To get the latest standalone version (update 2) you will need to either use the torrent links or use the direct download links to get 1.2.6 update 1 and allow it to update. They denote stand alone ver. and the DCS World versions. Steam and the standalone DCS:World run the same version to maintain multiplayer compatibility.
