DCS: P-47D-30 Discussion

You will have to get to 30,000 feet to claim that.

Down low it will be a struggle against 190D and 109K. That does not mean that the jug is helpless, but those two are clearly superior and it is up to the pilot skill to compensate for that. It should handle the 190A8 quite well though.

The P-47D30 entered service when nearly all P-47s were being replaced by P51Ds in the 8th AF. It was meant to act as a fighter-bomber. 56th FG, the last fighter group in the 8AF to use Jugs as escort fighters till the end of the war (and were fighting 109K and 190D) were overboosting their P47Ds to the level that made them equivalent to P47M.

Not even 30k, more like 25k or even less depending on what boost we get.

The 8th AAF was using 70" as standard for it's P-47s during Normandy and later. It gave it a large performance increase of around 444mph at 21,000ft.

Ah, that kind of animation would be way to much for our PCs right now.

But i would love to see ammo truck and fuel truck, power truck driving up to your plane if requested any of this, not an instant repair, refuel, rearm. And number of trucks should be limited per airfield so you cant' rearm refuel 5 planes at the same time.

That kind of traffic on airfield would be neat. IMO

I do enjoy the new screen shots of the P-47, and like most cant wait for the release. I have been reading into some of the P-47 flight manuals and one of the notes say not to run the turbo rpm past redline. Sadly in the photos ED released of the P-47 there is no redline for the turbo. Or a placard stating what the max rpm is for the turbo. Yet all the other gauges has operating limit bands in place. In fact in the manual I have seen the photo of the gauge cluster and it has a big green arc for the operating range of the Turbo with a placard stuck to the glass. And the photo I am looking at lists at the bottom "Figure 38 Instrument panel P-47D-30" From what I have read the Max RPM for the turbo is 22,000 RPM.

Thus is my point as stated in another thread. No one in this community that knows me knows that i yearn for the Jug so much, but what annoys me is this, yes those Jug screen shots look amazing but simple shit like the cockpit lights and safety catch on the stick in the D9 dont work properly yet (dont get me started on the engine) what you guys really need to realize is it takes 2 sides to fight a war, and tbh its why stuff like this is pushing some amazing pilots towards the cartoon that is IL2. DCS this needs to stop, if you want the best then you need to provide the best on both sides.

18000 man… if you didn't already know that by now you're probably poorly prepared for the P-47 release… just saying… :music_whistling:

Worth the wait, think we are at 6 years now as a Kickstarters when it first came out under a different umbrella.

I will take what they drop in and be damn glad for it. EA, is EA (if that is first phase), and I will fly her per the manuals and note any findings. Their really is no comparison to "other" titles and being "driven" to them. DCS is sublime in it's immersion and EA will just be our chance to help improve it.

Really looking forward to contributing anyway I can, and learning this module when she drops. Thanks DCS/ED, a long road, but worth it.

How is it with ED's EA pre-orders. If they release EA pre-order, it takes 1-2 months before releasing EA. Am i right?

I think (hope) that P-47 is going to be EA without preorder, i.e. available immediately.

Jug is releasing this month, presumably after the sales, and good chance will be same day release and no pre order like some past modules.

How can you be so sure about that, no one has posted any release date yet nor release type too(pre order or not pre order).

Kind of sad if it's released as EA after all these years. I'll buy it but still......

It is 100% that every new module will have EA state. Question is pre-order or not pre-order.

Additional to this EA can make appearance in OB, so it can make release date much closer, then w/o EA.

Where is that stated? It seems they're holding off releasing the Jug until it's done. Why does it need EA? That doesn't mean it won't get fixes. Even the A-10C gets those.

Every module will have EA because it must end up in Open Beta first to finish full testing, So can move on to stable version.Even when module will be 100% done still have to be public tested in order to rule out any bugs, missed in closed testing. As we already know, some open beta bugs can be quite severe, not fitting in to stable version at all.

We have plenty cases, when developer is not using OB model, then finally all users end up being OB testers any way, and ppl have to wait for fix patches so they can play game anyway. Some games loose all player base before fix patch happens.

When i launch new OB DCS version i expect bugs.
