sobek
being one of the only WWII aircraft I know of that used this type of system There were other AC used that system(mainly bombers), but not many fighters (only other i can think of is the P-38). Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!

chris455
The P-47 was the principle American fighter in Europe in WWII. The P-51 was the like the Jug's kid sister; she only became more popular because she was thinner, cuter, and would go alot farther................................................................. As for the Pacific, if one hasn't read about Neel E. Kearby and the 348th FG, I encourage you to to do so. The combination of Kearby's genius in the air, the challenges the group and their Jugs faced, and the way they magnificently used their aircraft's strengths against their enemy's weaknesses is a case study in air warfare. The Jug has been my favorite WWII airplane since I was a kid- that's a long time ago. I'm not sure just what it was that gripped my imagination so completely. Maybe it was that the Jug seemed almost like a big overgrown 'Gary Cooper' of an airplane. Not brash, not much to look at, not really something you would expect to be so dangerous. Almost a 7-ton underdog in many ways. But in the hands of a determined pilot, the P-47 was probably the biggest headache in the form of a fighter that the axis ever had to deal with. A multi-dimensional nightmare that escorted bombers which destroyed their factories, shot down their fighters, and hounded their ground forces like a maniacal pit bull..................and there were thousands and thousands and thousands of them. :shocking: Flying the DCS Mustang alot lately, I have come to respect the little P-51 probably more than ever. I was never a Mustang fan boy, but I have come to accept that the all-time American favorite, the P-51, really was quite an airplane. But as for me, when Luthier finally releases the P-47 for DCS, I'm on it like a fat lady on cheesecake. I hope my Mustang will understand when I will have no choice but to dump her for her older, plumper, homelier sister. I gave my heart to her a long, long time ago....................... I'd fly a Jug through Hell just to wave at the Devil on my way through- Edited February 5, 2014 by chris455 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Remembering Arlie "Jack" Campbell, US Army Air Forces, WWII. Well done dad, rest in peace.
Krupi
My thoughts exactly Chris, I have never enjoyed flying the P-51 so much, it's a credit to DCS. 9.JG27 DavidRed
same here, the P51 is probably the least wwii warbird im interested in...but here in dcs i love to fly it...having said that, once the other crates have arrived, and they hold what they promise(beeing on dcs level of detail), then i hardly see myself in the cockpit of the mustang...give me the 109 now! :) from the allied announced planes, the p47 is probably the one i will fly the most...some how i just like the heavy look of that milk jug :)

Here's some inspiration: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]************************************* Fortunately, Mk IX is slightly stable, anyway, the required stick travel is not high... but nothing extraordinary. Very pleasant to fly, very controllable, predictable and steady. We never refuse to correct something that was found outside ED if it is really proven...But we never will follow some "experts" who think that only they are the greatest aerodynamic guru with a secret knowledge. :smartass: WWII AIRCRAFT PERFORMANCE
Grim_Smiles
Here's some inspiration: I've never been a Jug fan really, but shots like this one are really selling her more and more for me. Will still be flying German planes a majority of the time, but when flying on Allied side I can see myself mainly sticking to the P-47. gavagai
Clipped wing tips, no guns, no extended tail fin.... Cool Merlin, what kind of P-47 is that? Actually, here's a shot of the N-Jug without the tail fin: 457mph @32,000ft, with a range of 2000 miles. Most pilots didn't like the way the p-47 looked at first. Then they fell in love when they realized its capabilities and the ability to bring them home alive. Pandacat
LOL, i misread his words. I feel the same way about p51. Feel more like flying. I wasn't a big fan of Jug either before. But once you know how to fly it and battle with it, you will love it.
Krupi
Yeah, it has seemed like your flying on "rails" in other sims but in this one it feels like you can push it a bit more, but you have to watch yourself... this sim just gives the P-51 more character, a character that deserves the accolades it was given during the war... Grim_Smiles
I'll need that straight-jacket when you're done with it Krupi, if the wait for the Dora keeps up I'll be a few fries short of a happy meal myself.
