we must make TM and CH aware that the pc flight stick market is and will have a rather massive resurgence with space sims popping up everywhere...

and today CIG is doing a star citizen backer poll about star citizen hotas, sadly saitek won the poll by huge margin I assume due to their cheapish hotas than competitors

I'm not sure we'd like a HOTAS designed for space sims for our DCS World aircraft as I'm sure it would be rather simplified and have less controls than we need, if only to keep the cost down as space game players are less likely to be willing to spend as much as the average flight sim fan.

So be careful what you wish for ;)

I thought that at first too but the specs have it listed as 2 way.

It's the "K" switch. It's a 2 way up/down switch.Still seems kind of awkward though.

It's the same switch and position as on the X65F. The two buttons next to it on X55 were actually two 4-(or 8?)-way hats on the X65F which might have been an overkill because you had to be careful when gripping the throttle.

I have question - if I vote, does it mean I am obligated to buy it for the negotiated price? What if I am not satisfied with final price? It can go from 199 USD of Saitek's to 189 USD of this site. Then lower price is meaningless so I wouldn't buy it.

I would have complained at the fact you can't control a 2 engine aircraft properly :P

split that in two parts like a-10 or f-15 and you're ready to go :smartass:

There is no obligation to buy. The voting stage is basically just a show of interest, and once the 200 people vote (only 12 people to go!) the massdrop team will contact Saitek and arrange some kind of deal.

From here, they usually have a 3 tier purchasing option where the more people that register to buy, the cheaper it gets so for example they might have:

100 people - $180

200 people $150

300 people $120

(I'm completely pulling these numbers out of a hat btw)

The really cool thing here is that you can tell them that you only want to buy once there are enough other people to buy at the lowest price:D

this one is a good example :

https://www.massdrop.com/buy/ergodox

Thanks, so count me in :)

How exactly does no FF make it "bad for most"? HOTAS products don't come with FFB generally (there are some exceptions, of course, like e.g. G940).

Because you don't have good touch to airplanes or especially helicopters without FF. It can be disabled if someone really hates it. I have flied with saitek controllers without FF and long time ago with Microsoft Sidewinder with FF and then I hated it because the force caused me to lose accuracy.

But then I bought G940 and everyone testing it at my place prefers it over non-FF HOTAS because more accurate feeling of fighters or helicopters behavior.

Of course F-16 and similar having the force sensing stick requires such one, so dream stick would be that it is FF capable but then have feature to lock stick to get a force sense for planes what would have it.

But I can agree on that FF configuration can be pain, especially when you need to stop flying and return main menu to tweak it or alt+tab to third party program. So 1.2.7 in-game menu is welcomed (doesn't it allow settings in game?)

Yes, I have gotten a number of those in the past. At least you still have a release date. :D

I pre-ordered a book (about six months in advance) from Amazon back in 2012. Then I got one of those emails, except they said they would let me know when a ship date was available. I still don't have one. :P

I just ran across this forum posting where somebody claims to have received a X-55 PR model by mistake he posted some pics and measurements check it out.

https://forums.robertsspaceindustries.com/discussion/102572/so-i-got-my-saitek-x-55-rhino-early

(the exact weights are 117.4 grams thruster module, 109 grams for the joystick)

I haven't measured the weight of my X-65 nor of my G940, but ... wtf? Both together lighter than a can of soda!? That can not be ...

thanks for the post, gonna keep an eye on it. Kind of a mixed bag from his perspective. I'm worried about the lightness as well.
