I'm thinking about whether it would be better to get the Warthog stick for about £160 and then try and find a separate throttle that's cheaper than the Warthog one (also about £160), as I don't mind spending that much on a super-accurate, solid feeling stick but I probably don't really need half the controls on the Warthog throttle (or the X-55 one) and so it doesn't seem as good value to me as the stick.

The only problem is there doesn't seem to be much choice in standalone throttles anyway. The CH one is about £125, so doesn't save me much compared to the Warthog one. I could get a X52 Pro throttle and stick for £125 and sell the stick but I'm not sure if they even work separately.

So I'll probably end up just getting the X-55 and having to put up with it's plasticky feel and other annoyances.

X52 pro stick is connected to throttle with cable and cannot be used seperately.

Same here there Sithspawn,

Given it wasn't supposed to be released till early April, hope this isn't a goof on their part or wishful thinking on mine :)

Says no shipping or tracking info available so maybe its just in their system and not actually shipped.

I see that they have updated the SST software but the new version only supports the Rhino. That's rather a shame.

I guess it must be quite a bit different given the size of the packages.

I'am new in DCS: it's very good !!

I have the X-52Pro and am doubting about a new stick:

- Thrustmaster Hotas Warthog or

- Saitek X-55

The Thrustmaster costs here about Eur 140.-- more (this is a lot but it will not be the end of me):

What's your advice?

Best regards, Willem

I think going from an X-52 Pro to the X-55 would be a waste of money, unless there is something wrong with your current stick. The only way I could justify it, is if the X-55 turns out to be a much better stick (with decent pots on the rotaries) AND the new software works better than the previous Saitek SST offering.

Just my two cents.

Save up for the HOG and do overtime at work...

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

The more pictures of the X-55 I see, the more cheap and plasticky it looks to me. Sure, it's considerably cheaper than the Hog but it's still expensive enough to annoy me if everytime I use it, it feels cheap.

I'll really need to see both in person though before I can make a proper decision about whether it's good enough or whether I think the difference is worth investing in the Hog, which isn't without it's own problems.

I was interested to read this

"Looks like Saitek switched to the same Melexis tri-axial Hall sensor that TM became so enamored with in the HOTAS Warthog and T.16000-M. The PCB position underneath the gimbal and what appears to be a small magnet at the bottom of the stick post with no signs of sensors beside the gimbal assembly suggest that.

Fortunately, it's a good sensor. Unfortunately, it makes gimbal mods much more difficult as opposed to the X-52's use of individual Hall sensors for each axis (just ask Okona about his efforts to gimbal-mod the Warthog), and believe it or not, I've seen pics of a Baur BRD-modded X-52 before, which would singlehandedly turn a cheap stick into one of the better sticks money can buy."

I'm wondering if anyone knows about this Baur BRD mod, as I could get a X52 Pro s/h a lot cheaper than the X55, so depending on how complicated and expensive this mod would be, it might be worth me doing that instead?
