Some were bought still in airworthy conditions. The FIat Gr91 served the Portuguese air force from 1961 and participated in 3 silmutaneous conflicts in africa, were it was used for ground pounding, but also as rapid reaction alert aircraft to prevent Nigerian mig-15's from interfering. It turns out they Moved them away to a far away base when operation "green sea" was carried out. Pretty dark years were those. The UN santioned our Illigal deplyoment of the F-86 Sabres and they had to be withdrawn.
