I am trying to figure out how I would have a helicopter take off, fly to a waypoint and land, then take off and fly back to it's starting point.

I have used the land option in the advanced waypoint option and it works and flies off to it's original waypoint.

How can I set it so that the choppper flies the same pattern until it runs out of fuel and crashes.

This is to simulate picking up cargo and flying it out to a ship. Using it so the base doesn't look empty during the mission start up and return to re arm and refuel

Hi!

This has been an issue, indeed. I am no pro in ME, but to my knowledge there was a similiar question about "guarding patrols" around an area.

1.) Quick and Dirty: never land really, but set lots of waypoints.

2.) If there should be a landing zone, maybe something like orbit/circle/racetrack?

3.) Or, more difficult, use groups, e.g. a chain of 10 support groups

support 1 T/O -> land (deactivate) activate: support2 T/O -> land (deactivate) criss-crossing if they fly back and forth...

Thanks Shrek.

I think it was ENO from the firehouse server who was asking about patrols following the same waypoints but I can't find the post in the advanced search. Option 3 is a good point which I have tried. It does work with activating and deactivating which is basically what I wanted to see happen.

I can't for the life of me find an easy way or setting it like a continuous trigger so that it can be done with 1 aircraft. Pity there is no "proceed to waypoint" and then set it as the starting waypoint for it to continue off from the start again

I found this for ground vehicles using MIST and a script created by grimes. I might give this a shot and see how it goes with choppers

EDIT: Gave it a shot, no good with choppers. Works to a point, chopper was flying between waypoint 2 & 3, waypoint 1 was set as advanced action to land. s

One option that exists for aircraft is the command "switch waypoint." Basically, you have it fly to waypoint 3, then add an advanced waypoint action of "switch waypoint to 2." That flies the aircraft back to 2... at which point it turns around and flies back to 3... forever (until it runs out of fuel unless it RTBs automatically). I'll have to double check if that option is available for helicopters.

EDIT: Just looked and yes, it is an option for choppers and would be excellent for your purposes.
