HUD / Radar target course don't match

The expert F-14 has always thrown locks from the Su27 since 1.0. Flying head to head reciprocal courses, straight & level, same altitude. You find it, lock it up, & once or twice between ~ 80km & WVR you will always loose lock. No evasive manouvers needed. I guess it's just started showing up on other planes too now.

though Gazehound complains of his radar actually turning off, which I've never seen.

Cheers.

Oh yes, I remember in MP (ver. 1.0,1.02 & 1.1) - the F15`s radar would stop

scanning once in a while. Never seen this in single player. Never encountered

it in ver. 1.11 (MP & SP). Don`t know about 1.12a.

I guess it`s time to fire up some AI F14s...

Quick question about the radar symbology on this screenshot. What the

hell is MEM at the bottom left of the scope and couple of other details

that I`m not familiar with. Were you using a different difficulty level for

radar when you took this shot?

Crusty, You've never used MEM mode? Wow man, don't say you use that old TWS mode!!! That really is the dark ages!

It's off by about 30 degrees.

As someone else pointed out the radar screen is square and not triangular. Everybody thinks that the midle of the bottom radar screen is your aircraft wich is not. Infact the whole bottom line is your aircraft. As such the coordinates of the contact is slightly off from the real location in the world.

There is a transformation of coordinates between the real world and the graph on the radar.A single dot is tranformed into a line (your aircraft)

The closer the contact gets to the bottom the more the acentuated the difference gets. Hence your "discrepancies" on the HUD. This is a feature and not a BUG. Im Surprise ED gave the trouble of implementing it.

  • 1 month later...

Bringing this up again ...

But in this shot, target mid screen on the MFD ... the target on the HUD has a very different course ...

Also in this flight ... I had 5 targets on TWS screen at 20-25 miles ... 2 locked, then suddenly they all vanish and despite scanning up/down couldn't re-acquire any of them! This is soooo annoying!!!

ED - Please, please fix the radar on the 15!
