About this Squadron
We are an Australian based group running campaign style cruise deployments emulating CVW-1 aboard the USS America during their 1989-1994 cruises. If you are passionate about 1990s naval aviation, you have found the right home. We run weekly squadron training starting between 7PM - 8PM Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST) and fortnightly operations nights on Friday/Saturday. On top of that we have members doing casual flying or mini operations nights throughout the week, so no matter what there is always someone to go up and have some fun with.
What squadrons and aircraft do we operate?
Our current squadron line-up includes:
VF-102 Diamondbacks (F-14A Tomcat) - OPEN Pilots and RIOs;
VFA-86 Sidewinders (F/A-18C Hornet) - OPEN;
VAW-123 Screw Tops (AIC - E-2C Hawkeye) - OPEN.
If you're new to these platforms, fear not, our group is open to people of all skill levels, and we will help you learn and become proficient in your chosen airframe via our two training squadrons:
VF-101 Grim Reapers (F-14A Tomcat);
VFA-106 Gladiators (F/A-18C Hornet).
