Lockon, and before it the entire Flanker series, has been my favorite for years. I have had to cut way back on my sim time for a while now and so haven't really spent any time in Flaming Cliffs.
I'm fortunate to have time now though, and so I've fired Lockon up with the hopes of enjoying a bit of flying. It is not to be.
I cannot get the Su27 to behave. I've read many comments on the autopilot and trim systems in FC, but most of those comments and posts deal wiith the Su25 and Su25T. I don't know how the systems on the Su27 are supposed to work; that is my aircraft of choice.
I don't ever remember having this much trouble before. Now, whenever I start a flight (I'm in v1.12a), in the air or on the ground, the roll and yaw neutral trim indicators are lit, indicating neutral trim on those two axes. There doesn't seem to be a way to get neutral trim in the pitch axis. I've tried maintaining speed, sometimes trying slow and sometimes trying fast, but when I use the 'CTL-period' or 'CTL-semicolon' keys there doesn't appear to be any affect on the pitch trim, whether I hold the keys or repeatedly press them.
The autopilot works, horizontal stabilization and auto-throttle as well, but when those are disengaged I porpoise through the air so badly while trying to manually trim that the flying is ruined. Is it that my X52 is too sensitive? What can be done to cause the neutral pitch trim indicator to light up?
It would be so helpful if someone who had experience, someone accomplished, would address through a tutorial the obvious learning curve required to trim these birds so that other like me could effectively train and get to a place where they could enjoy Lockon.
I am so lost: someone help!
