Awseome ! Thanks

Hi, I'm relatively new to DCS and looking to join a squadron who accept green pilots and ideally with a community based in Australia (mainly because of the time). I have only 1 module (F18). Any recommendations ? Thanks

You mean me ?

I'm using the kneeboard as on the map it doesn't give you the exact heading of the runways. Kneeboard it's 088° and 268° Let's imagine you guys are located somewhere in the map and planning to land. How you "organize" to arrive and align with the runway ? Visual only ?
-
I would like to land in Senaki. The heading apparently is 88 or 268. As you can imagine it didn't put me in line to land in Senaki or at least not in line with the runway. How you guys align with the runways ? I'm not talking adjustment/trimming> Thanks

Thank you all for the help. I reckon the landing will come by itself after practice. Regarding radar well I still have to practice some of the tips you gave me but still keep loosing them or perhaps it's me. Especially in Campaign 1st mission. Will update with further info once I've practiced. It will be I guess more accurate Thank you once again PS : Anyone has a discord channel to recommend where I could discuss with someone for further tips ?

Hello, I’m relatively new to DCS (no to Flight sims though). Have played the F/A-18 Hornet 3.0 then F/A 18 from Janes and even Chuck Yeager's Air Combat Bought the F18 Module and few maps. I’m struggling with some simple functionality despite hours of watching and re watching tutos from more or less everyone: Matt Wagner, RedKite, Jabbers, Spudknocker, Grim Reapers, Growling Sidewinder… even the tutos from Eagle Dynamics (they are not on point at all). Read the PDF from Chuck. Anyway… Was wondering if any veterans (or someone who knows) would like to spend few minutes with me to show/explain me or by answering here or even better via private message or discord. I’m sure all my questions are newbie questions. Landing. Where is the trim indicator ? How to measure how much I’ve trimmed ? Can we decrease sensitivity of the trim? I've pressed only once to to the left and it goes too much then pressing once on the other side it goes to much on the other side and not immediately (I mean the reaction is way too slow, not sure if it's normal) How to select the airfield ? to input details in navigation (the correct runway etc...) How to input the location of the airfield so I can find the exact target to follow on my HUD ? Done the tuto of Eagle Dynamics on VFR Airfield Landing. Followed the instructions and had terrible time to trim the bird… after multiple accident landed “myself” without following the pattern etc.. Then looked on Youtube and watched Matt Wagner, he explained how to land on visual. Great tuto, very easy to understand. Clear diction etc… He mentioned to bank at 30 degrees and keep the constant speed… OK but how I know I’m at 30 degrees ? and why 30 as I guess depend the distance of the runway the speed, the altitude and weather condition those parameters might change ? Hence how I know when I should turn at 30 and not 20 to not overshoot my runway? Tried with waypoints. Put all the data (N, E,) the switch CRS not working … after multiple trial made it work. Still overshoot my runway and then had to try manually. Obviously because of the result I won’t be able to land on CV yet My manual landing was a bit rough hence my plane was damaged when I asked the ground crew to repair, they said “denied” as I have to shut off the plane (it was off and I was on blue airfield). Radar Locking bandit ? How to select multiple target? How to keep the radar elevation? When scanning to find a target often the elevation bar keep going down so I have to use the elevation control to raise it. Not sure why it does that. Moving my TDC to the target pressing TDC depress button to select the target… and after few second the selection on the radar or disappear or the cursor is not on it anymore. Not sure why. So if any kind spirit is in the position or have some free time to help it will great Thank you

@Sacarino111 Yes, the "pinkie" is a modifier. At least it's how I use it. Initially I found a profile on the forum and then tweaked it a bit. How would you suggest to use the pinkie then ? I've attached my mapping. That being said wherever it's modifier or not I shouldn't have to go to windows settings, search for joystick, open the game controllers then the option properties and leave it open so the game can consider it?

Admiki. You are right ! I wasn't able to "calibrate" the stick via Settings=>Set up USB Game controllers as the option of calibrating is not there as you can see on my pic (not sure why) but was able to do it by launching joy.cpl located in windows\SysWOW64 and now it's working. Pic with calibration option through joy.cpl I don't know why it has an impact on DCS though as it doesn't need any calibration for other games but doesn't matter. Still have the issue number 1. Overall I can make the game working it's just disappointing. Thank you

Hi All, After some diggings here and there apparently it's an ongoing problem with DCS and Saitek/Logitech. I found some post back to 2013. Perhaps it's me, hence seeking a bit of help from the veterans here . I have a Logitech x52. Just to cut the chase the controller working PERFECTLY in other games such as Elite, Arma 3, Flight Sim and Star Citizen. Also, it's not a config issue or at least as far as I can troubleshoot. No other controller are assigned to the command. Finally before starting the issues arrived recently... when I've started first the game no problem and obviously something happened since.. Alright so Issue 1 : The Pinkie or Joy 6 not detected. The only way to make it work is to go to windows settings, search for joystick, open the game controllers the the option properties and if you leave the windows open DCS accept for some reason the Pinkie or Joy 6 input. I found this solution on the forum suggested by @amigastar (thank you) . Issue 2 : The rudder is somehow stuck on one position. In my case left. As you can see on the pic (rudder 0) bellow the rudder is assigned to the correct Axis and no input are detected (no small filled white bars). Once I'm selecting "Axis Tune" (Picture Rudder 1) and if I don't move the rudder the initial position is accurate. If I move it just once (in my case on the right) the axis goes crazy and stuck in the left position (Picture Rudder 2). I can move around, but I don't have any "normal" or middle ground. It's full on ( I let you imagine what kind of issue you have in game). If I press OK you can now see the white bar on the rudder line indicating the game is detecting an input (picture Rudder 3) even if I don't move the Stick. I don’t have to go in axis to create the issue I can just move my rudder once and the problem is here. I’ve tried the following with the same results: - Reset profiles & load my saved one. - Load a new profile for the X52 (found on the forum) - Clear category and reassign - Restart computer - Restart Game - Change USB port - Install X52 driver - Delete the profile in Saved Games\DCS\Config\Input\FA-18C_hornet\joystick The only “solution” I found is to delete the game and the config files in Saved folders and reinstall (worked once...). It seems to work for a while but at some stage (that’s what I have trouble to understand) the issue, with the rudder, appears again. The “Pinkie” or Joy 6 issue (as mentioned above) I can deal with that but this one… Can someone please help me ?
