1. Thanks for your reply - and working on assigning to mouse button. Tak sa mycket.
2. Btw (and sorry for maybe not searching the forum long enough to find the answer) - what keys do toggle "show pilot"? I read about "Shift+P" but that seems not to have an effect with me (?) - I can swich this off in the "settings" before I go flying, but not "in flight" - and even with the pilot switched off, the RIOs body gets shown (?)... Anyhow, I much support TORCs wish to assign this to some button...
3. Thanks a lot, Uxi. I looked up and downloaded Bankler's trainer and the three missions from your linked thread... Without having looked into, are those landings only or are those "whole cycle"-quals from take off to landing? "Carrier Ops off Bat" at least sounds like the whole thing... Anyhow, thanks again and MUCH appreciated! (Now I hope to get to see the carrier in night ops as well... )
4. Hi I am regularly training F-14 Supercarrier-Case I-Carrier Quals that come with the Persian Gulf and Syria Maps (are those coming with the Terrains, or with Heatblur's F-14? I'd better ask there, then...) What I'd like to do is extend my training to different weather/day of time-conditions. As the training mission starts without opening the Mission Editor I cannot change parameters like wind/weather/time of day.... Or is there a way to "take" the stock carrier quals and modify it somehow (short of setting up a whole new mission - being too new in DCS I'm not yet familiar with creating such a mission...) - and as far as I can see noone ever bothered to create one and made it available for download... Thaks for your inpt Oliver
5. Hi, sorry for being quiet for some time... But no, no problems (re-)surfacing ever since. Seems it was the a.m. bad connection. Re the Virpil: yes, I do have that one with a 200mm extension as well. See my post of April 28 about a comparison of the two. I am running the VKB due to it's "better" stick-"feel" - the VKB/200mm/TM WH-combo is somewhat softer than the VKB with double 50-springs...
6. No worries - your issue and response was encourageing to dig deeper into my troubles (and get a bit more insight into the DevCfg)...
7. Okay, seems that I got it sorted: after seeing this thread http://forum.vkb-sim.pro/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=4776&start=15, I dismantled my 200mm-extension - made sure all connections on the extension's base-end had good contact and re-assembled everything... "My problem" didn't show up any more since then (about a week ago) - so it appears I had a bad connection on my extension's lower end... Lucky me that the question about a faulty extension's-contact resurfaced!
8. Okay, first results of testing... Hooked second screen on my rig, opened VKB's DevCfg and observed on second screen what was going on with the stick while flying DCS. 1) same training mission (Persia scenery F-14A Case I landing Supercarrier): - on approach, when I heard the SW growling: - in-sim weapon selector switch was in SW (sometimes Gun or SP as well) - real life weapon selector was not! - now: DevCfg did NOT show the weapon selector switch button lighting up! ...In one case I got the trim drifting again - no input button lighting up in DevCfg, either! 2) same setup as above - connected VKB-stick to rig without the USB-extension. - same results as above... So, (I thought) this appears to be some problem not connected to VKB, but DCS internal instead... 3) replaced VKB-stick with Virpil on WH-base (direct connection to PC) - same mission as above (flown twice in DCS stable and OB, each) - no single case of trim drifting or "moving" weapon selector switch! 4) same set-up as above but with USB-extension, same mission and two different ones: - again no single case of trim drifting or "moving" weapon selector switch! Okay, I will do some more testing, but this DOES sound to be connceted to the VKB somehow....... But how???
9. ...or in the mirrors - that's where I check first! Engaging DLC slightly raises the spoilers - DLC "down" raises them further/fully - DLC "up" drops them flush...
10. Nah - you have to push the button to "unlock" and be able to go from Off to Guns (and back from Guns to Off for that matter) - but there's no button "under" Guns. There's no button "under" SW, either (whereas there IS one on the Virpil). Under SP/PH, finally, also the VKB does have this button...
11. Yup, the VKB does have a button incorporated in/added to SP/PH allowing to switch between Sparrow and Phoenix. But there's no such button when selecting SW to switch between stations... Virpil does have that... Okay, the WH never gave me much grief in precision, then, but I see that VKB's Gunfighter III registers already slight touches. That's true.
12. Right, the SW station-select is another pro of the Virpil... But what difference in performance do you mean? Except for the "mushy" TM WH (the grip alone being very heavy, that one on a 200mm extension was always was very soft to "throw around" - not so the light VKB with double 50-springs and appropriate cams), I don't see much difference... I never was much a fan of the TM T.A.R.G.E.T-software to program/assign buttons and needing to run before the sim, but I understand that binding buttons through the DCS in-sim Controls renders that unnecessary. And VKB's DevCfg, too, is a program/tool that requires a university degree to see through.......
13. That's another story, but allow me to give you my personal opinion of a comparison of both grips/sticks (I have them both): VKB-pros: - 1/1 copy of (the real thing?) at least the one Heatblur was using - (far) better "button-feel" than Virpil - better "stick-feel" with their springs-cam-setup - at least on a 200mm extension as I have it (running on 2x 50-springs each and avia-cams) - DLC working as axis instead of buttons (as is the case with Virpil when used on the WH-base) - "nicer" coolie hat (Virpil is "roundish") and black weapons selector switch (Virpil: red) Virpil-pros: - in my view better/more realistic material used - may in my view even feel and look more original than VKB - better (appearing) /more robust weapons selector switch material - nice "glow-in-the-dark" arrows and dot on the trim coolie - more flexibility in terms of exchanging grips (to me the VKB-system appears more arkward when wanting to change grips) But: since I received them, I only tried the VKB (it arrived faster than the Virpil) in action - need to try out the Virpil to say something on its in-sim-qualities. And: it's just my two cents and personal opinion!
