Apache always crashes in OpenXR
VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants replied to VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants's topic in Game Crash
Additional info: in Pico4, both Oculus runtime and SteamVR, all running via VD, work perfectly with the Apache and both are very consistently suffer no crashes whatever mods I throw at them. The old OpenComposite "mod" used to run great with little to no crash, too. Only this combination Pico4 + VD + SteamVR + OpenXR suffers. 3 more things are very consistent in OpenXR here: 1. After clearing out fxo and metashader2, OpenXR always crashes once it switches to VR, can't even get to the loading progression bar. But after another 2 or 3 crashes, I can get to the main menu. 2. When the OpenXR "mode" crashes, more often than not the SteamVR also crashes. Sometime, Steam has a dialogue box claiming SteamVR crashed last time and asked if I would like to retry, even though the SteamVR client is still out there running! 3. Lastly, after OpenXR crashed but SteamVR is still running, closing the SteamVR and the icon in the system tray, the Pico4 is still in the SteamVR mode... I am not sure which part of the system, or a combination of them, is causing the crashes. -
Apache always crashes in OpenXR

Update: Change the page file to a fixed 32768MB in size. Run Clean and Repair. No mods, no shaders. Clear all the contents in fxo and metashader2 manually. After 6 crashes or so (first first one is always before the load progress bar), then, the game constantly crashes at the "Spawn Object" point. dcs.log-20230208-180048.zipdcs.log -

Update: try set the Texture to low, it still happens and some how, it seems to happen only to Apache so far with Pico4. I need to try my luck with Quest2 next. -

Do you use OPXRTK too? Even by default, it makes things looks slightly better, or it was me. -

While Ka-50III and other fixed-wings, tested so far, are, put it this way, able to finally loaded, Apache, however, is consistently crashes before getting to cockpit. Other VR access methods, however, are fine. Enclosed is an example.dcs.logdcs.log-20230207-094333.zip

New terrain lighting technology on Ugra Media maps?
VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants replied to gerd's topic in Ugra Media
The current state, imho, on PG is rather, put it this way, has a lot of room for improvement, especially in terms of performance. Personally, I would really love to visit Beirut at night. -
I click in just to check which time of the day you are talking about...

VSN flyable aircraft mods
VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants replied to razo+r's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
Using mod with beta always carries some sort of risk. I am told and I try to apply each mod slowing, it may crashed a couple of times afterwards, eventually, the sim "adopts" the mod and it would be fine, some how. -
Remember this is "Final Testing Phase", it can finish fast, or like MB-339A, it can be more than a year... (for various undisclosed reasons) As there are still too many things in the DCS World to keep me engaged (sorry pun intended), I don't mind waiting.

Is this what 600 knots really feels like?
VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants replied to RODEO5150's topic in DCS 2.9
Well, sorry for my English, I meant it did not feel like so. If it would be Alpha Jet E, it would be a shame. -
Pico 4: how to set it up for DCS?
VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants replied to Lange_666's topic in Virtual Reality
Here: https://mbucchia.github.io/OpenXR-Toolkit/ Download and install the toolkit, make sure DCS World is checked in the companion app, it should automatically. Close the companion app (no need to left it running). Launch DCS World and you can customise the setting right inside your game. If I were not mistaken, once you are done with the settings, it is saved automatically and use across different games. Also, please note that it almost does nothing (affecting your fps results) if you do not change any setting in it. I use it for Eliminate the dreaded "DCS World waiting..." prompt by SteamVR (I assume)' A clock to tell me I should have been sleeping; and The current framerate, better than VD's performance overlay. -
DCS now supports OpenXR natively

I begin to wonder if the Taz1004's excellent clear glass mod works with bladed wings or not. Ah, better check it myself when I have time. -

I am not sure in the Alpha Jet video is really at 420kts...And I heard that a version AlphaJet is in development by Split-Air. And let me bring out the video I was talking about regarding the sense of speed... -
