  1. Open Beta problem. Relatively new guy to this game and frustrated! Please help me if you can! Previous computer, with both Stable Versions as well as Open Beta worked fine. Didn’t have a ton of flight hours, but enough to fly the Hornet which is the only module I’ve purchased other than various maps. Was previously able to fly the F/A-18C in both Stable and OB versions; cold starts, take off, land, etc. The computer itself had issues, but not the DCS game. The computer went back to the shop and they ended up replacing it altogether with a new computer. The outfit who built the computer, transferred the software and all of the files over from old computer to new one. DCS has also been updated to today’s current download. Now, Stable Version now works fine. Spawn into the Hornet and fly ‘instant action’ as well as ‘missions’ without any problems. The only problem is, I need Open Beta to fly with a Multiplayer group. Open Beta however doesn’t work! If I choose a mission which has a ‘hot start’ or ‘ready on ramp’, as soon as the pilot spawns into the jet, the Hornet starts racing forward like the ‘thrust’ is wide open until it hits something and turns into a fire ball. No breaks or stopping it, no steering it, no control at all. If I choose a mission that is a ‘cold start’ in Open Beta, I spawn into the jet but can’t click on any of the toggles, buttons or switches, or controls at all. It is like there are not any controls bound for the game. When I click on the gear icon, and then ‘Controls’ and look through each of the pages, the Stable Version and the Open Beta Version, both appear to be identically set up under F/A-18 Sim. Anybody have any thoughts on why the Open Beta Version is not working? Don't know if it matters or not, but my controls (HOTAS, Throttle, Pedals) are all Thrustmaster and I fly with VR Goggles.
  2. I am new to this, just started using mission editor. Each time when I hit the "fly mission" button it launches me somewhere outside the cockpit (I have been above the plane, I've been in the air over the bare ground) and can't get in the cockpit. Also, when zooming in on airfields I don't see the parking spots labeled when I'm in "Sat" mode. When I click the drop down for "parking" the screen freezes and says that the "Window is not in focus"........please send help......SOS!!!!
  3. Hey all. Having an issue getting my VR to work in DCS, for some reason the game doesn't recognize the headset and I can't see anything DCS inside it. It is a HP Reverb G2 any thoughts/fixes?
  4. Using all TM products. Computer is recognizing the pedals and throttle but not the stick. The computer is recognizing it but DCS is not in the control panel. Drivers installed, not using steam. Can anyone help? This is getting pretty frustrating
  5. Caster, fantastic, thank you!
  6. All thank you so much for the replies/advice!!!! Definitely will help! Cheers!
  7. So just waiting on my computer to arrive and I will have everything I need to get started. The setup process seems daunting and I am NOT a "techy" lol! So, in flying the Hornet how do you all suggest I map things to my stick and throttle? Using the TM Warthog for stick and throttle and TM rudder pedals. Thanks in advance!!!
  8. Hi, Tony here. 45 years old and have always been fascinated with fighters and aviation in general. Like many I was never smart enough to do it for real so I became a firemen lol! At any rate, I'm just getting into DCS and the Hornet and am looking forward to this very steep learning curve! Advice is certainly welcome!!!! Cheers!
  9. Hey all. Just getting started in DCS (computer and components arrive in a couple weeks) and I have no real flight experience, sooooooo any advice on where to go to actually learn to fly (other than a real flight school) so that I can enjoy this more? I know there is a 399 page flight manual for the Hornet but I don't think it explains basics of flight like how far out from the airfield to turn in etc....? Thanks in advance and ANY suggestions from you Hornet pilots would be greatly appreciated!!!! Cheers!
