  1. I understand the purpose of the rotor brake and the rotor brake lock but I'm having a hard time understanding a rotor brake lock startup. I understand the principals of how it works just not the reasoning to have such a system.

What's the benefit to performing a rotor brake lock startup and why was it implemented in the Apache?

  2. I knew it was coming. I've expected it to come since the A model was announced over a decade ago but even after the comments wags has made I WAS NOT READY for that reveal. I seen the mast and thought, finally, here's the hind, then when I saw that 30mm my body shut down.

  3. During the "Airfield VFR Landing" instant action mission I tried to tune the M radio station to Kobuleti 133.000 MHZ. I had set the aircraft in BALT and ATTH autopilot then started to tune the radio. The AM/FM Option select was cycling between AM and FM by itself and I couldn't make a frequency change. I disengaged auto pilot and it seemed to start working again.

    I've attached a track file

  4. I did a search on this thread and didn't see an answer so if it's been answered, sorry for missing it.

I was watching a video of a Harrier landing and noticed something going on in the intake. At first I thought it was some kind of condensation but then I realized, maybe it was the water injection system.

Does anybody know if it is in fact the water injection functioning? If it is, will it be implemented into this module? The visual effect I mean.

You can see it about 10 seconds in on this video:

  5. Brand new to DCS and the A-10C having jumped in about a week ago.

I was a long-time Falcon addict but this is a whole different animal. Really enjoying the process of learning the systems, learning to fight and trying to tie it all together with a good joystick config. The depths to which the in-sim switchology goes is mind blowing.

I'm an AZ resident and my day job is aviation photography. Link to my site is in my profile if you'd care to peruse some eye candy.

Reading this forum and scouring the web voraciously for every nugget I can find. Maybe someday I'll be worthy of multiplayer, but I have a lot of work to do first.

    Regards to all...

Welcome! I'm checking the website out now, these are some really great pictures!

  6. Not remembering my nomenclature...that's the land based unit. What about the ship based unit?

EDIT: I was referring to the pics.

I don't know much about the older unit but with the new MSU it can be detached from the ground handling trailer and mounted to a -31B tractor for shipboard

I tried to pull the tech pub on the -105 but it's no longer available here because it's been removed from service

EDIT: Something funny I noticed is the old huffer was a -105 and the publication for the new MSU is NA 19-105B-62

  7. Okay Leatherneck guys. With the help of my Veteran Shipmates I was able to find out what the support equipment was.

The Huffer: NCPP-105 (for the 1980's and 90's)

    The Geni: NC-10C MEPP

Are they looking for info on GSE? I'm a GSE mechanic and actually still work on NC-10's today. Last I worked on a huffer like that was in 2007 they've all been replaced with MSU 200's.

  8. I've noticed the tanks seem harder to kill with the GAU-8 as well. It was really noticeable yesterday during the Georgian Hammer campaign when I fired all of my CM rounds on a single T-72 and didn't get a kill. Then I commanded my wingman to engage him with cannon and with rounds on target from my wingman, he still was standing. I have a screenshot of the T-72 on the TGP MFD with 30mm craters all around it.

I don't even bother engaging tanks with the GAU-8 anymore because the machine gunners are dead accurate. I'd rather do a gun run on a ZSU-23 than on a tank.

  9. Ok, so I did a DCS World fix and that seems to have fixed my crashing. I decided to not taxi/park and shutdown the A-10C and that fixed the spawning aircraft on top of me issue. I just land and end the mission which takes some of the fun out of the game.

Yet I keep running into bugs preventing me from completing the campaign. Now I'm stuck on Mission 4 where I have to provide CAS for another Abrams and Bradley element. The Abrams get stuck in the same spot every time, they just stop and will not proceed. I can't advance on the campaign and I get a 50% each time I complete the mission. Not to mention the Bradley that missed the bridge, went in the water and underground. How has anybody that's played through gotten past this?
