  1. Have you guys figured out the best way to play DCS with the Quest 3? I've tried Link, but it's horribly blurry. No idea what Im doing wrong.

Im just gonna share my settings for the Quest 3 that Im quite happy with as a former Reverb G2 user. Sure, with the G2 and 4xMSAA I get much shaper image in centre and can see much further (witch I think is because I used much higher SS but it also was 90hz at 45 fps with Motion Re-projection)

Now Im running in 72fps almost fluid with no motion re-projection(ASW) like 95% of the times, even low over dense areas, with the exception of Marinas Map, that one have issues even over the sea.(I have all maps) 🙂

I do use both DLSS with a DCS PD of 1.35(enter it via the options.lua file) and 1.3x scale @72hz in Oculus app. And I also override this a bit via OpenXR Toolkit and using CAS as scaler(see image). I know that Im using scaling and stuff via several plugins/apps. But I can't see any direct performance hit by doing so. Tried all combos now I think 😄

But this is running really smooth with some exceptions because I had to move the DCS install to a Sata SSD(to get the multithreading to work without all the constant stutter). So I guess the occasional "evenly burst stutter" I get now is when loading in areas/textures, especially in the first 3-5 minutes, and that it's due to the slower SATA drive.

All in all, the 72fps, slightly better FOV, edge to edge clarity and the pancake lenses, this wins over the G2 for me.

    My specs:

    Win10 64bit, AMD 7800X3D, 32 GB 6000mhz Ram, RTX-4090, Quest 3 with an inline powered link cable.

The last image is what it looks like over Haifa in the Syria map.

Unfortunately my Windows Screenshot plugin crashed and did not restart when I took screenshots of nVidia settings, but I think the rest is more common sense. 🙂

Forgot about the Swedish in the Nvidia settings. But I think it is listed in the same order?

In the 1st image and in bold text is FXAA=Off and Edge AA=On and Prefer Maximum Performance
In the 2nd image it is Texture filtering and is in order: On, Performance, Allow and On

This is really confusing. Why stack so many PD settings in different places. Also how are you using OpenXR with Oculus Link? Mine doesnt seem to work in this case.

  2. My Quest 3 128 is on the way, will likely get it by Friday. I'm an ex Aero user, definitely spoiled me with the resolution, but I'm really looking forward to the Q3. 2.9 with DLSS would be a very welcome addition this week as well so we can push super-sampling.

  3. This is really big for immersion and fun. Especially for WWII aircraft. The enemy AI is painfully predictable right now. I like the changes that were made for Jet AI, and there is still most certainly room for improvement, but WWII aircraft are feeling abandoned.

In fact, I'd buy an upgrade/module, if you guys spent more time developing REALLY solid AI.

    Hi,

Been using the Gazelle since day it was released, have had some minor problems with control, most of my own making. However, since the update last week I'm totally out of control

Using Hotas joystick, with throttle, using throttle as collective, right side, Throttle left side.  It has always kinda 'leapt' into the air, and a couple of weeks back it was not so jumpy, great.

But the last update happened, I only have to move the collective a few millimeters and I'm 20 feet up, not only that, it is oscillating wildly like a pendulum, I can get it level with right rudder for a few seconds but any movement of the joystick and the oscillation get worse, I've just had my first inverted few seconds before I exploded into the tarmac.  Joystic has x/y deadzone 4 and slider at 10, thats worked fine as I previously mentioned.....can we put this back to the previous settings? Flew in the Gazelle in Northern Ireland a few times, as talking freight, really enjoyed it, it was much faster than the Scout...showing my age.

Identical to what is happening to me, I suspect I need to adjust my saturation and axis settings.

Although I did just have to rebind from scratch but yea it's unflyable, as it stands with my base settings.

  5. Hi there, I did a fresh install in WIN11 (and have a backup image of my WIN10), how can I export/transfer my contexts from one to the other? I tried transferring the Appdata config file but it did nothing.

Warping in the G2 for me at least is minimal and only appears in the far edges, The P4 in other hand is really present and start aroung midway to the edge making it really anoying and for me, it gave me headaches.

I also bought the P4 searching for an alternative to G2, but belive me that the P4 is not the budget replacement, the lack of DP buries it.

The warping gave me a headache as well. It was very frustrating, i've never experienced eye-strain before and I've had a Vive, Quest 2 and G2.

Here are some more useful links:

The trick with USB tethering works really well, with a 10G USB3 cable you can get stable 1200 Mbps main throughput that won't vary like a WiFi connection. To easily switch to USB tethering, use the link https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PUTpT9boTKssDXQ2qUCLxOKM3LPxQtlA/view?usp=sharing

Install the .apk and you get normal Android options. Important after this, is to check Windows network settings and set this new network to private. Virtual Desktop will switch to this connection after a short moment and you can disable Wifi on your Pico 4.

Can you please explain this more? Is this APK for the Pico 4? What does it do exactly? Is USB Tethered really that much better than Wifi? Is the compression better? I've got a steady 1200MB over Wifi 6 connection.

How are people running stand-alone DCS over Pico 4? Are you guys running through Oculus and or SteamVR run-time. Using OpenFSR if so?

I got it working pretty well through Virtual-Desktop. I ordered a cable to try running tethered. I think it looks decent. Obviously not as great as the G2, but I hated the G2 in every other way it was a dumb headset with 0 sweet-spot and the worst tracking on earth.

I'm really hoping I can get DCS to run decent though as /w OpenXR runtime it was really amazing.

Since I now got the same performance with the Quest Pro as G2 (45fps) I'm really happy with it. The display is really really great. Can't wait for VR optician lens inserts and full light blocker though. I would reccomend you to try it for 30days 🙂

How would you compare quest pro to g2 display?

It's very interesting how people see VR headsets so differently.

I have only Quest2 but since I switched to max resolution (5408x2736 in Oculus app) and kept DCS PD 1.0, never had an issue with readability (F18, M2000, F-5, F1)
Never had an issue with link the moment I started using a proper USB-C one (not an expensive one)  that kept my headeset charged above 80 % even after 3 hours of DCS playing

Which link cable did you use? I was using the official one and it was ass.

  10. So I'm still a little confused. Have a Pico 4 on pre-order but considering cancelling for Quest Pro.

I wasn't a huge fan of the G2. Horrible sweet-spot and just worst tracking, and annoying hard cable.
Obviously the OpenXR workaround was great, and so was not having to worry about charging.

    Hmm.

  11. So been wondering about this myself. This has been my experience with the headsets + DCS

    Quest 2
    - Terrible resolution (very hard to read text/gauges).
    - Needed a lot of super-res.
    - Link was mediocre, even at high settings just didn't work very well.
    - Battery life sucked; battery discharged faster /w link and did not re-charge with it plugged in.
    - Amazing tracking.
    - Worked pretty well with Virtual Desktop.

    Reverb G2/v2
    - Really solid sweet spot resolution.
    - Horrible resolution outside of the terrible sweet spot (blurry mess)
    - Worst tracking imaginable.
    - Hated the thick cable, would drive me nuts and be a constant annoyance.

I have sold both, honestly the experience just kinda sucked. Although G2 was generally better for flight sims than the Quest 2.

I have now pre-ordered the Pico 4, but am considering just cancelling it and buying the Quest Pro off amazon to try it for 30 days :)

  12. Question: I just installed Windows 10, I had a copy of Open Mod Manager on Win11 that I have an image of... Is there anyway I can restore it fully with the contexts? How can I transfer the contexts; is it stored within a folder or windows registry? Thanks

  13. So my Soundmodule has been working great and all of a sudden it is no longer responding or sending signals. When I click 'test' on any of the sounds, nothing happens. Not sure what happened. It gave me a 'port in use' check to see if other instances are running right after reboot and a fresh start of the sound-module; clearly no other ones are running so it's confusing.
