  1. Ah ha, thx Tholozor, much appreciated.
  2. Not necessarily DCS related, but certainly Apache related. Any idea what these outboard mounted pods are for on the Apache? See photo: null
  3. GM, That worked like a champ. The part I was missing was having the RTE Page active. I knew there was something simple I was overlooking. Thx! Happy flying.
  4. Hi all, I'm sure this is a simple question although I have not come across anything on it in searches or tutorial vids thus far. When I reach a waypoint in flight, what is the simple way to index to the next waypoint in flight? Is there a way to have the Apache automatically index to say Waypoint 2 after reaching Waypoint 1? I've tried using the MFD Cursor to hover above the Waypoint designator on the TSD Screen, then cursor select it, but it does not seem to work for me. I'm sure it's me... Thoughts? Thx in advance!
  5. Yup, this makes sense, however even when I have burst count set to "ALL", George seems to leave many targets damaged but not destroyed. Having him fire again, is there a quicker way to do this than what I have been doing which is using the George command interface to designate a target area using my reticle, wait for the target selections to appear and then select a target?
  6. Hi all, Been flying the Apache allot lately and doing allot of interactions with George CPG. Everything seems to be going well, but there is one thing I would like to be able to do that I'm uncertain as to how: Often times while George uses the Gun, he will put a few rounds on target and not destroy it. I'll commonly see 8% or 16% damage to target without it being completely destroyed. George will stop firing. Is there a easy way to tell George "Hit it again"? Thx in advance.
  7. Interesting, I did not realize that. I always thought the RADAR dome was what made an Apache a Longbow. Learn something new every time I visit this forum.
  8. Ah ha. I was just using Instant Action flying different pre-configured missions. It was present on some, not on others. Thx!
  9. Been flying the Apache for a few months now and have just noticed I (seemingly) randomly have the RADAR Dome on top of the mast as if I'm flying the Longbow variant. This is not an option that I've selected that I know of, just curious why sometimes I have it, and other times not. Hmm... Thx in advance for any advice.
  10. Nice, I already have Skatezilla's mod...didn't realize it could do that. Will look at that as a next step. I normally use it for routine clean and repair maintenance only...never thought to see if it does more than that really. Thx Svsmokey, much appreciated!
  11. Hi all, I've flown using Track IR for six months or so, worked great but then I took the plunge into VR with an HP Reverb G2 for the past several months. I'm running Open Composite XR and Toolkit through WMR and am pretty happy with that setup, however I do need more GPU power (NVIDA 3090 ordered and on the way to upgrade from a 3060 24GB). So to my question: All is working well with DCS in VR minus lacking GPU power which I'm in the process of correcting, however I would love to be able to easily startup DCS in TrackIR Mode or VR mode at my choosing. Right now, every time I start DCS, it automatically goes into VR. Is there a slick, easy way to evoke one of the two different setups upon setup to easily go back and forth between the two basic configurations prior to starting up DCS? I am still relatively new to all of the ins and outs of DCS, and still learning all of the technical aspects of the Hardware / Software aspects of DCS operations. Thx in advance for any advice!
  12. Figured it out. I have to keep the Wpn Rel Btn depressed for about 2.5 seconds before the AIM120 will launch. Not sure why the AIM9 is instantaneous. But now that I know...I can work with it. Thought somebody else might find this useful?
  13. Hi all, Been learning to fly the F-16 for about a month and am making decent progress. I'm just starting to learn how to use A2A Weapons. Been through tons of YouTube tutorial vids and have been able to utilize AIM9's with no problem. Now I'm tackling AIM120's and cannot seem to launch them. I am able to select them, designate a target on RADAR and will even hear the audible "Lock". When I select Weapon Release, nothing happens. I assume it should use the same Weapon release button as I use for the AIM9's...and I simply left the Control as default. What am I missing? Thx in advance for any helpful thoughts!
  14. Just in case it can help somebody else out, I was able to solve the problem above. I still don't know why actuating the switches failed to send a signal to the Control Panel, however I did discover if I simply use the Pulldown to manually select the Button ID, the Button would then function properly within the game. I only had to reference the TM Warthog Button ID Mapping to know which Button ID to chose for my desired function. In the end, twas easy peasy. Hope this helps somebody... Cheers
  15. Hi all, During my configuration of Controls (F-16 Sim) setting up of Warthog throttle & Stick, I've found a number of switches that don't seem to send a signal to DCS to be recognized within the Configuration Dialogue Box. Many do and work as expected, many others do now. As an example, I was able to slave the Radial Slider (labeled INCR / DECR) on the Throttle to the View, Zoom function effectively. I did this by locating the View, Zoom function, selected the empty box in the adjacent row under the Throttle column, actuate the Slider and the DCS Configurator recognized the function. When I tried slaving the Autopilot functions to the corresponding Toggle Switch on the Throttle, no signal seems to be recognized. I tried numerous commands afterwards with the same results. Any thoughts on what I should look at to resolve? Thx in advance for any help.
  16. Sold!
  17. Hi GH, Funny you mention the stiffness of the TM stick. In 1998, my wife worked as a civilian contractor on Wright Patterson AF Base. She got both of us into the manufacturer's display/demo tent at the annual Air Show in Dayton, OH that year. She spoke with a representative from Hughes Corporation who was running a demo of their simulation cockpit for the F-16, which was a full-size duplication of the actual F-16 cockpit. Was non-articulating, but had surround monitors and everything worked like the real aircraft. She told the guy I wanted to try the simulator and that I flew F-16's (meaning I played Falcon 3.0 on my PC at home, but he never asked so I didn't tell). He let me give it a try, so I hopped in and took off, flew to a way point, engaged a Mig 21, flew to another way point and landed. Now to my point...I personally found the stick in the real simulator unbearably stiff. I flew for 30 minutes and my right arm was like jello when I finished. My arm was SO exhausted from putting so much force into the stick to maneuver. After I finished, an actual F-16 pilot hopped in and took off. I watched him and he made it look effortless, didn't break a sweat. Thx for the thoughts GH!
  18. Hey GW. I've been checking out the Virpil stuff...man does that stuff look nice...a bit more money than the TM solutions, but I could see how it could be worth it. My thinking so far, albeit possibly wrong footed, is that I'm trying to determine where to invest my money in system/peripherals where it makes a difference in the overall experience. For instance, I'm to the age where I am regularly using cheater glasses, my eyes simply aren't what they once were, so investing big money in the highest level of graphics capabilities most likely will not improve my experience. The function and feel of a higher end HOTAS, could make more sense as far as bang for buck experience. I dunno, I'm new to this, so I'm simply speculating logically at this point.
  19. Hey thanks for the input MFT. I'm actually considering the F/A-18 and do agree it seems like a great way to start. Tons of systems and mission capabilities to learn. I'm not opposed to that route at all. I do really like the thought of the challenge of Carrier operations being part of the learning experience. I do have Alienwear on my list of options and they do seem to have a decent offering. I already have Track IR & the Logitech Rudders which were both given to me by my IT pal. (Everyone needs an IT pal in their life). I'm nearly settled on the TM Warthog HOTAS but still reviewing all options available. I haven't seen much on Internet speeds being an issue of concern. I live out in the sticks in a relatively lowly developed area, so my Internet speed isn't the most impressive thing out there. I haven't experienced any issue streaming audio/videos and it's been quite reliable. I wonder how it will do if I make it to the point of flying with others on a Server over the web?
  20. Hi all, I'm Mark, hailing from Western Ohio, USA. Been lurking on this forum for quite sometime now, so impressed with the level of knowledge and experience the good folks on this forum have, I've learned allot so far. I'm new to DCS, played Falcon 3.0 & 4.0 for years then got out of it. DCS seems to be on an entirely different level and I'm looking forward to diving in. I plan to start with the F-16C as it's a plane I already have some knowledge of and simply love it. So far, I've spent copious amounts of time pouring through Chuck's guide, through countless YouTube tutorials and reading on this forum. I specking out a Computer now and plan to pull the trigger in the next few weeks. Looking forward to getting to know many of you in the weeks to come. Cheers!
