  1. I just started ingressing target area at 15k+ and haven't had many issues of being shot down by AAA. I get up angels 15-20 and circle, checking out the area and GBU the bad nasties from up high.
  2. I havn't tried this myself but for night time missions you could bring along some illumination rockets..Was going to try them out tonight, havn't seen them in use yet.
  3. I think I'm possibly the worst at sam evasion.. I hear/see launch warning drop my load and pull and roll all the while releasing chaff flame like a firework and still get nailed. I know the theory behind beaming the threat and I was a pro in BMS, but I guess reality modeled in a sim just shows me I'm not S*** :)
  4. I apologize, didn't mean to derail the topic :) carry on gentlemen. I wish for...a full cockpit in every retail box of dcs: a10c
  5. Not spinning anything, I provided up to date releases of the public release of information. If you'd like to pretend that they're flying around saving our troops more power to you. Like I said before, I'm not trying to start a flame war just saying the documentaries are a good watch Whether you believe them or not. By your definition of IOC USAF FIGHTER UPGRADE PROGRAMS GROW AMID JSF DELAYS november 30, 2011 By: Keith Arscott For now, at least, the Joint Strike Fighter isn’t going anywhere. According to U.S. defense officials who have vowed to protect the program from looming defense cuts, there are no alternatives to the fifth generation fighter. These assurances do little to change the fact that the most expensive defense program in history is continuing to experience delays. Even the most stable of the three JSF variants – the Air Force’s F-35A – will see its initial operational capability (IOC) slip by another two years to sometime in 2020 "They're operational, however you might like to spin that " yup so are flying cars, not seeing them being used.
  6. "The USAF and USN have received their first operational F-35's." your term.. The a-10 was rejected by the air force because it doesn't like CAS missions, not because of it's design and multiple problems before it was even fielded.
  7. Seeing as the "few sources" were from the DOD statements and memos released to the public ,thats as close to knowledge about the f-35 us in the general public can get..was pointing out they weren't delivering fully operational units yet. Not claiming I know all the details as I assume you do...
  8. The f-35 may replace f-16 but there is no argument against the inefficiency of a jet engine against a turbo fan at low altitudes and low air speeds, yup I read about the dismissal of the claims by the people criticizing the f-35..they are engineers and designers for Lockheed-Martin..no bias there. This is from 35 minutes ago "The latest look at the F-35 does not paint a pretty picture. While it doesn't identify any show-stoppers, it does identify a raft of design and programmatic problems. Among the most worrying: the advanced helmet doesn't work as it should and no one has come up with answers to its problems, which were identified about a year ago. Problems with the highly advanced helmet seem to ripple through various aspects of the plane's technical and operational performance; the F-35C's tail hook doesn't work properly and the plane can't perform carrier landings right now (perhaps the Marines are chuckling over that one...); the plane's air warfare capabilities suffer from "..unsatisfactory progress and the likelihood of severe operational impacts for survivability, lethality, air vehicle performance, and employment;" From 2 weeks ago "Currently "[The U.S. Air Force and Department of the Navy] are waiting for aircraft flight clearance for test pilot maturation flights," a senior DoD official said. Further, "both services are still trying to determine how many maturation hours are needed by test pilots before instructor pilots and then students can be trained." far from operational.. From 7 days ago The U.S. Air Force has apparently also has come to the conclusion it's a little too early to let anyone but its test pilots fly the F-35. InsideDefense.com reports (pay-per-view) that Air Force Secretary Michael Donley has agreed with Director of Operational Testing Michael Gilmore that the F-35 is not ready to begin pilot training at Eglin Air Force Base in Fla. "The Air Force agreed with Dr. Gilmore that there were still outstanding risks associated with the Joint Strike Fighter flight training at Eglin AFB," according to a summary of a memo Donley sent to Frank Kendall, DOD's acting head of weapons acquisition. "We emphasized that a military flight release (MFR), which would permit flight operations to begin, will not be issued, and subsequently training in [conventional-takeoff-and-landing] aircraft will not commence, until these risks have been accepted or mitigated using established processes."
  9. Ive been flying A-10 since the first week it was released in beta and ironically enough i just started refining my gunnery skills, this is what i've found works best at least for me. start high, around 5k+ then get within 3-4 miles of your target (approach with it on your 30-45 degrees. roll onto target with 90 degress bank and pull until it's in your windscreen. I use the default pipper with the winding range cue and unless I'm running on a hardened target tank ect i squirt out a burst when the 2 aiming cue dots (AP and HE) are almost touching the target. I've found that if your accurate then all it takes is 10 rounds for pretty much everything except tanks. Tanks i attack from a 50-60 degree dive and wait till .9 and give them a pretty good burst.
  10. I believe the designer of the a-10 mentions that as well...I'll link the videos for everybody when I get home. There is a huge uproar in Canada because of the project, they were promised that (some)of the parts for the f-35 would be manufactured in Canada which turned out to be either a flat out lie or it was for something minor that could be provided by existing aircraft supply companies in the states, it's been a couple months since I've watched them. There was something about Canada just paying for a fleet of fully upgraded super hornets and then while the governing board (whatever they call it in Canada) was out for winter break the order was placed by the defense minister.
  11. Yup I agree :) if your into aircraft though, those documentaries are a great watch though, we went around to lots of country's and convinced them to fund a portion of the R&D for the f-35 and the budget has (at last word) quadrupled. So those country's that placed orders are going to be paying 10x what they agreed to pay per plane. Very interesting the story of the f-35.
  12. awesome post have some rep *edit* says I can't give you rep :(
  13. A little bit OT but those who like the f-35 should watch some documentaries about it, its been a disaster in both design, production, and (one of these years) in application. It was designed to replace existing planes such as our beloved a-10 and f-16 and it doesn't perform the role at all well in either case. Some of the things is that it's been problematic because of the multiple configurations and to fast and inefficient to have much of a loiter capability, to heavy to replace the f-16 as far as weapon load-out and payload weight. pretty much all it's got going for it (as far as public knowledge) is stealth. Not trying to start a disagreement on the forums but just punch up some documentaries on google. One of the good ones is the lead designer of the a-10 commenting on it after being privy to internal design and testing of the f-35.
  14. yea i don't hold down the trim while using FD, just saying you can if you'd like. When using AP though i use the hold down method and I get no bumps bruises ect ect that people are having problems with. If you can correct your issues by changing the way you fly a little bit and it works, problem solved  I promise Vlad the ka-50 instructor won't smack your knuckles for using a different trimming method. :)
  15. I'll post it again, hold down the trim, make your course, speed, height adjustments and release. Is anybody that uses the hold then maneuver method having issues? no bump, no fighting with auto pilot nothing. when using FD you don't even have to hold the trim if you don't want to, just maneuver then click. I know the real way of using the trimmer is the real way :) but it's causing non-stop trouble for people. just use the hold trim method and enjoy your brand new tame black shark.
  16. copy that, it prob was a sa-6, whats strange is I could see every other vehicle on the airfield, trucks, radar, seems like everything else but the sam. A lag/desync issues sounds about right I was just wondering how often this happens, this super dirt camo :)
  17. was playing some online last night and myself and 2 other guys were hunting down a SA-7 and the host found it, called out the cords and i slew over to the area with the tgp and....nothing...just dirt. He then lased the target and I went into LSS and the laser locked it up still dirt. My question is has anybody else run into this problem? He finally got it with a mav and I saw the explosion and the sim showed a kill but in my view only dirt was blown up.
  18. I fly BMS and I agree with this, a dcs f-16 would be a whole different animal i'm sure, if you haven't checked out BMS by the way the gfx aren't bad as everybody likes to point out on this forum. I love the a-10 but sometimes I just don't want to fly 90% throttle to stay in the high 200 knots. I think it would be a great idea to model the f-16 because you know people follow that aircraft from the falcon series. It's pretty much guarantee customer base, and hey a lot of people already have full cockpits built :) just saying the f-16 or the f-18 would be great.
  19. the load discussion would make perfect sense but I get it with a empty plane as well. I haven't tried a empty plain on all missions but even experimented with mounting the pod on the left and had the same issues.
  20. mine does that same, looks like the hydraulics kicking in, same forward back cycle on the stick, happens every startup. Would wind be a factor in moving the stick before you have hydraulic pressure? Don't notice it except at initial engine engagement.
  21. As far as a track is concerned, if you load up the shooting range mission with no controls connected or make sure your controls are centered (which I made sure on my gaming pc) and advance the throttles the jet will pull right. I though initially that maybe the jet wasn't lined up correctly (even though you start on the runway) I straightened out the jet during roll out and as soon as you stop inputting left rudder the jet starts pulling again. One this I've noticed is that once you disable nose wheel steering the pulling to the right isn't as strong but still prevalent. I use the shooting range mission as a example, every mission stock or user created has the same pulling effect. I've tried mulitiple things, jet unloaded, more loaded on the left, fuel full, fuel almost empty, starting from either direction on the runway, different airbases. I finally just gave up and accepted it. In reality it's not that big of a deal, was just tring to figure out what was causing it. Like I said in a earlier post this problem has been persistent through 2 joysticks (x52 pro and now the TM WH) and even installed and ran on a completely different pc just for trouble shooting purposes.
  22. i took it one step further and ran a-10c on my laptop (whole diff pc) with no controls connected using only the keyboard and still had the pull/trim to the right. I'm 99.5% sure it's not a control setup issue. I thought maybe a difference in engine thrust? it's constant though so maybe designed to simulate a worn engine. I just chock it up to the maintenance crew not checking the pressure in my right tire :)
  23. yup had to fix that when I bought my pedals, it's pulled to the right before I had rudder connected. It's just a minor irritation at this point and as you know trimming isn't something you have to think about after awhile. I just started bumping the left trim a couple times before takeoff and it only needs a couple more bumps once airborne.
  24. Taking off the hog always wants to vear to the right, regardless of the load or weather. When i get airborne i always have to trim to the left, It's been a issue both with my old x52 pro and with the warthog as well. All controls are centered as checked both in windows and in-game. figure it was minor and i just deal with it. landing is mostly fine, If I don't watch my inputs I get the swerves as well.
  25. thx, was starting to think the other flights were for emotional support :)
