Thanks man, I'm working on one while I wait for some feedback from you guys. Will be more of a support role, CAS for a group of humvee's entering a town, based on intel of a HVT that we hope to capture. Starting off slowly, (as you said) don't wanna get burned out again. :)
-
So some of you have played my missions in the past, I took a long break because I kinda burned myself out with mission making in the beginning. I'd love to hear some idea's for mission types you guys want to fly. Civilian (sight seeing/transport), Military (blowing things up), Police/swat type (raids/support). Doesn't matter if it's a SP or a MP mission, i'm sure we can figure it out, may just need some volunteers to help test fly these future missions. BTW for those of you whom haven't tried out the new 1.2.7 update: FRIGGEN MINIGUNS MAN!. Huey is a beast with AI controlled miniguns.

By editing your sensor LUA file, yes you can.

If you could upgrade the Ka-50, what would you do?
wess24m replied to Fishbreath's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
If you'd like, you can mod the weapons database file so you can equip 12 viks. The additional 12 on the rocket pylons will have to have their angles manually adjusted in the form of pitching the shark prior to launch. Will work on both SP and MP. -
No problem, I just moved and have yet to set up my "pit". hopefully I'll jump back into it and make some more missions. Thanks for the feedback.

I responded to your PM as well. Pretty much saying the same thing as the other posts. Make sure your radio transmit knob, your freq, your transmit button are correct. Also verify your comm radio is on.

Need Help (Big Time) - Approach Speed Control and Landing
wess24m replied to jjohnson241's topic in DCS: UH-1H
Not sure if it will help but one of my videos where I do a full approch from speed; no voice over but some good music and you can watch my control indicator in the top left. I also have my take on hovering, getting to speed, and coming out of ETL with a landing in a different video as well. -
A & B, I like it. fun mission. Maybe next one can be on holding a hover at empty weight and then the 2nd or 3rd challenge could be fully loaded or at a remote location at a higher altitude, get a feel for her in different flight regimes. :)

The problem with this solution is I play a lot of different simulators; while it would be better for Huey (possibly) it would ruin using the stick for the others. I have a new Saitek (X-52 pro) laying around collecting dust, it may have to be my Huey stick. Honestly I don't have any issues with how firm the warthog is; could be because I work with my hands all day.
-
Same here man; doesn't make a lot of sense but it works. I also don't use central position trimmer in the KA but the Huey I do.
-
Haha, yea I designed it so you have to use the door guns. It's easy to waste the jeep with rockets or miniguns; also it fit in with you being a oncall support unit that may need the free weight for troop transport.

Sorry guys. :) I went all Huey hardcore mode too long and kinda got burnt out. I'll be making more missions soon. As always any ideas are appreciated; feel free to PM me with them. The beheading the hydro part 2 will be done within a week or sooner.

Is there going to be a new flight model adjusted for the weight and lessened aerodynamic drag?
-
Just make sure you don't have another airfield ADF stepping on whichever freq you choose. I normally use 1700 to 1750 just to make sure, but any unused freq will work.
-
Also just a FYI, you can use your ADF as well. Just make sure you set your frequency in the mission editor to within the range your adf can receive and set the modulation to am. It's easier to see which direction the signal is propagating from. I've always used the ELT tone. If you do a search for ELT.wav in google there are plenty of places where you can download it. When you're setting up your "transmit message" in mission editor make sure you check the loop box.

Would be interesting to see a real Huey pilot try this in the sim. No doubt this pilot has major skills.

While I'm with everybody wanting the visual model to be correct, I do all my flying from inside the pit. Perfectly (down to the rivets) exact would be good for a picture or a static model for your desk, I'm far more concerned about how it flys and that the game is stable. I also understand people like to make movies with dcs and while I do enjoy them I think people are missing the point of a simulator. I've been more active in this sub forum because there wasn't flaming wars in every thread, I love making all you guys missions and tutorials because I know they're appreciated, but to take the fact that somebody pointed out some visual problems to this level is unnecessary IMHO. He pointed out a problem that Belsimtek will get to eventuality I'm sure but it doesn't affect the game play, nor the flight model, nor the ability to blow stuff up.

That's a great idea, I have zero experience with JSGME though. All the mods I've ever used I've just install manually. Thank you for a solution though.

Can we have this little Huey feature in our BS?
wess24m replied to sylkhan's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I think that setup (remove spring or turn up the tension) is going to as close as 99% of us that fly the Huey or shark are going to get to realistic anti-torque pedals. While you've built your own forcefeedback back pedals, its not something thats feasible for the majority of us. I agree that it should be an option just as it is for the Huey. We all want things to be close as the real thing but we all know there are things that would be practically impossible to implement. Nothing wrong with having the option, if you don't like it or think that it makes the game less realistic then don't use it. I don't get all the arguing, from this thread people should have a good idea how real helicopter controls behave. If you can replicate that to the closest of your (and your equipments) ability then call it good. If you'd like to go a step further build a setup like Peters. -
Same with my warthog, have the left throttle mapped to the corrector. Once you're at full throttle and try to back jt off, it moves towards idle but as soon as I stop moving my throttle or the throttle is fully aft, the corrector starts spooling back up on its own.

Can we have this little Huey feature in our BS?
wess24m replied to sylkhan's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
If you want a more realistic rudder system in both the huey and shark, and you use saitek pedals, install Peters mod (in the case of the shark) and crank up the friction knob on the pedals. I've tried it and when I release pressure on the pedals they stay where I put them. Another way was already mentioned above, remove your return spring. -
Video showing my problem: user missions not ploading
wess24m replied to Aravon17's topic in DCS: UH-1H
NP, You haven't by chance installed any skins have you? Not sure if that would do anything or not, try this, open it up in the mission editor and change the skin to a different one and try it. -
Thank you, it seems like they changed the minigun spread on the ground. It could just be a me but it feels different. As always if you have any ideas for missions send me a PM or post on one of the mission discussion threads.

The triggers would need modifying. With a mission with no triggers you can just do as you said. **edit** If you'd like to make it MP your self- On all the triggers that have unit (huey pilot name) just add an "or" with the 2nd, 3rd,ect clients pilots name. That would be a quick and dirty way to do it but should work, you'll probably have issues still but at least it would get you started.

I may use this script. I've had an issue with "the player" being able to see infantry on the ground in one of my missions. Now I just have to do some reading how to use scripts. :)
