    Hover OGE?

If you were really good at hovering normal style and you have that down pat, you could use the rocket pipper to maintain a certain spot on the horizon. this would at least tell you if you're pitching up or down more accurately then the artificial horizon. you could maybe start by hovering next to a tall tower off to your side as a visual point. One of the problems you have is that you don't have ground effect going for you, I don't think the FM is refined enough for this kind of thing yet. I did a test of this idea, I turned on my gun pipper, aligned it with the horizon and used it as I explained. As said above, however you do this is going to be difficult with no visual reference.
  3. Mission area In this mission you'll be haulin' trash to units in the field. I wanted to add a lot more to this mission but it was driving me mad with all the glitches, it's still a full mission with in-game soundtrack on 40 FM. You should be able to tune your ADF radio in order to play this or be good at navigating by map, also be advised that the weather is hot so your huey isn't going to perform as well as normal. This mission also uses real weight, when you drop something off you'll be lighter, when you pick something up you'll be heaver. Mission covers about 60-70 miles of flying area so it should take about an hour or so to complete. This will be the discussion/problem reporting/tips/suggestions to add/things I messed up ect/ thread. Enjoy. EDIT: Corrected some spelling errors in the mission text.
  4. Ok i'll check it out, thx. When I tested it though the Blackhawk was always visible, anyways i'll double check it.
  5. Good idea with the music. (I responded to you about this in another thread, in a more detailed way) hot cold start option would double the amount of triggers I'd have to put in. I'm just a rookie mission builder and the more complex the triggers the more apt something is to break. From when you initially mentioned cold starts, I made all my missions with cold starts. I only had them set to hot start for my testing purposes and somehow forgot to change it back. It seems everybody likes the in-game music so I'll make sure to add that as much as I can. Ps good job completing the mission, it's no easy task to stay with the crazy Ai Blackhawk.
  6. Got it, thank you.
  7. I've been using X: cockpit clickable action 3035-3036 to open the doors once you land. Not sure about any of the others because i've been looking at the pre-made missions for get info.
  8. I sent PM's to both thomasew and wolfk33. check your PM. Somebody is already working on a Black Hawk down so just wait. I also have a ton of mission ideas but one requires a certain skin (for realism) so i'm trying to figure that out. I have a complete "haulin' trash" mission but not sure if I want to release it due to the fact I couldn't get it 100% like I wanted. I wanted troops to unload your chopper instead of just standing within the area and then telling you to take off. This has turned out to be a big PITA, the only way I know how to make troops make 2-4 trips back and forth to your chopper and use triggers and flags, the thing is you have like 7-8 landings so times that by how many triggers it would take and things escalate quickly. I may release it, i'm not sure yet.
  9. I know there is a way to "legally" add music to video through youtube that way everybody can see it. I'll start doing that instead of featuring in-game radio.
  10. I assume it's the same for SP?
  11. Didn't get a chance to fly it but I changed some things in the mission. If it works compare mine to yours, it's difficult to work on somebody elses mission. I changed the flag to set when you land and created another action on the same landing trigger area to activate the group once 10 sec has passed, once you're on the ground from the landing trigger it will set a flag and then trigger the 2nd event, in this case means counting down to 10 to activate your troops. My attempt
  12. Taken when Huey first came out while on a MP server.
  13. I haven't tried to mess with that yet. Would be good for a mission series I've been planning. Not sure if the interest would be there but it would be like a police support role. Car chases, find in fleeing subjects etc ext, pretty much what they use police helicopters for in the real world.
  14. So I have a quick question about skinning. Which program do you make the new skin with and if I make a mission using a skin I made does whomever plays have to download the skin independently of the mission, or is it included within the mission file?
  15. Good job! Ya I'm gonna just through all my missions and make them cold start. I was worried people would get bored because the slow convoy (that's top speed for them), glad you finished and liked it. I'm working on a couple more missions, one of which is a medivac one. Better work on your speed flying , this one will be timed,if you're late he dies and you fail.
  16. See my hovering video in the tutorial section, I'm not using any curves or lessened saturation. You just have to make small corrections and changes to the cyclic. I'm using the warthog but should be the same for all but the sloppiest joysticks. The problem with curves is when you need full deflection it gets ramped up towards the end of the joystick travel and things get out of hand very quickly.
  17. Having just got into making mission myself, I can tell you that it isn't hard to make your own missions. When you get into setting up multiple triggers, flags ect is where things start breaking. To set up a medevac mission all you'd have to do is create a flight, add some dudes where you want them and set one trigger (conditions being- unit inside zone/unit height lower than [2 feet above height of terrain]/unit speed lower than 2 knots) and one action within that trigger deactivate group [your group of dudes you're picking up]. This will give you a Huey and some dudes to pick up. once you land at your trigger area the guys will disappear, creating the illusion they're in your Huey. If you want to get fancy you can have the doors open when you land, play a sound/music/message, whatever you'd like.
  18. You could download and host "dragon's training map", I believe that has spots for p-51 plus training areas set up. You could also make your own simple barebones MP mission. something like THIS
  19. I'll take a look at it. Thank you.
  20. just posted a video in the tutorial section, shows that you don't need curves to hover. The hover is less stable than the videos because 1) I'm not a real Huey pilot 2) I used wind that you'd see during a mission (the official video's have no winds).
  21. Hopefully this video will help people. This is showing pickup/hover/air taxi/transition into ETL/forward flight/decent/landing. The videos i've seen from Belsimtek and the team are very good, I learned to do all this by many hours playing and learning. This video (unlike the official videos) has a slight wind like you'd see in a real mission so the hover isn't perfect like the no wind videos. If you have question don't hesitate to ask me, learning to fly the Huey i've learned it more about practise and muscle memory.
  22. I think I read that user placed FARPS are broken when it comes to rearm/refuel. Not sure if this relates to ATC as well.
  23. Just figured that having the guns mounted of the side there has to be a convergence point unless they fire directly ahead which would make the aiming pipper either in the middle of the 2 projectile paths or at the convergent point at a set distance. Maybe this isn't modeled yet. What i'm referring to is something like the guns on the f-16 that are designed to make a dispersion pattern at guns range. SOURCE While i'm not sure if anything like the spacers are used in the gun's on the Huey they should naturally create a dispersion pattern, thats why I was saying they were modeled like lasers right now. I'd think 2-3 rounds from the guns could render a soldier out of commission.
  24. 100% saturation, no curves, no dead zones. I use it fully linear, for me it's better because it affords me the full range of motion while not having to deal with a curve that sharply increases my control inputs near the edges of travel. If you watch my video's you can see that it's possible to hover perfectly fine with this setup, it take time, hours of time. Just watch the official pick up videos, it really is that simple to use small adjustments and anticipate the helicopter. It's not something to explain it just takes practise. I use the force trim quite a bit if you watch the control window and my cyclic.
  25. Yup, I will
