ive been playing FS's since the late 1980s..im now 52. i played flanker, flanker 2, 2.5, janes f15, janes f18, janes ATF, etc.. apache longbow on DOS, online in Novalogic's F22, F16 and Mig29 on DIALUP- good times...and i joined the airforce as part of my passion for aviation.
im still 'playing' flight sims now after 36 years and experienced a graphics card evolution through 3dfx to direct 3d and the openGL period and have countless hours defragging, optimising and overclocking to squeeze out the very last frame..these days ive gone from track IR to VR and ultra high res...back then a 640 x 480 res and a 33MHz machine was good..lol
i wanted to publicly state that for me, the most enjoyment comes from the lo fi version of DCS. i feel that its complicated enough to separate those who know how to fly and strategise and manage energy and so on, and ive for a long time wanted a 'switch' or 'macro' or 'mod' where i can switch between lo and hi fidelity models so i can fly the hi fidelity mods i have in lo fi, but for now its good to see the mig15 in lo fi, even though i feel i couldve saved a few $ by not buying the hi fi version..
is it at all possible for such a 'switch'?..and would people host servers for lo fi only?
most people, i think, have busy lives and anything more than lo fi requires a real committment that most dont have....heck even lo fi requires mastery of the keyboard with almost every key used plus modifiers...
its kind of why i quite enjoy rise of flight and IL2 WW1 planes..its really mostly about how well you can fly and less about mastering every button.
thats my 2c worth anyway..
