  1. The update has made the Corsair Ai a little more realistic than before. They have fix some of the fm issues. I am glad they heard us. Will test some more against different aircraft. Enjoy
  2. From known stats a Mig-21 should out turn a F-4E Phantom. I have try to kill a F-4E with a Mig-21 with guns only. Every time I am about to get him on my sights the Ai seems to know when I am about to pull the trigger. He does an instantaneous turn at the right moment, and I miss. There is no way a human being can tell in a dogfight when to do that. The Ai does it every time repeatedly. Hopefully ED can change the behavior of the Ai to be more human. When I am at low six there is no way he can see me, especially in warbirds with no radar.
  3. The critical damage on the F4U engine is set at 5. On the A-20G it is set at 6 and P51D set at 3. Mosquito set at 5. I will test it at different critical damage numbers to see. Wish I can see the Fw190-A8 which would be close to F4U radial engine, like the A-20G. Enjoy
  4. I always try to find real data or pilot reports on actual aircraft performance. I heard of P-51 pilots saying they can out turn a Bf109 and vise versa. Flying a Bf109K I can easily out turn a P51D Ace AI in DCS. How accurate is this in real life? Don't know, also the Bf109K lua is encrypted so can't examine the parameters used by ED. Same goes for P-47D, files are encrypted. My tactics are if I know I am fighting an aircraft that turns better than me, I boom and zoom it to death. A Corsair can out turn a P51D in test by the Navy. F4U has better slow speed turning because it has more wing area and lower wing loading compare to P-51D.
  5. Try Corsair AI in Ace, more challenging. The FW190D can't turn so well with the Corsair or P-51D, only boom and zoom with FW190D. You can only do barrel rolls with the FW190D, make sure you have lots of speed. Don't turn and burn it loses too much energy quick, then your a sitting duck. Best tactics with FW is stay high and dive onto your target then climb away. Enjoy
  6. Try my mod. After removing the negative values in B4 the beast don't maneuver with a dead engine anymore. I said this in the "Corsair AI Overpowered" thread. Lots of the AI's are over done in other modules too. Same with the P-51D, the AI does crazy maneuvers. Rate of climb for a P-51D is 17.7m/s or 3,575 fpm not 22 m/s. When we fly these aircraft we don't get the same performance as the AI. I have never seen the AI overheat their engines, they fly at max speed with no consequences. Sometimes I get shot up in an aircraft and relinquish controls I go into another aircraft, the aircraft I got out of just keeps flying and some how makes it back to base. Lol.
  7. Do you ask your flight to attack bandits? Do you ask your wingman to cover you? Use radio and or key bind for assistance, if not your flight won't do anything. LOL. Enjoy
  8. I have modify the file for more realistic F4U-1D AI. Nominal weight: 12,228 lbs with pilot, internal fuel and ammo as in F4U-1D manual 12,028 lbs. with 200 lbs pilot. My mistake 12,694 lbs were F4U-1 with wing leading edge fuel tanks, F4U-1D had these removed. Vy_max = 15.4 climb rate from 0-10,000 ft in 3.3 minute for F4U-1D Ny_min = -3.2 Ny_max = 7.0 as in F4U-1D manual Ny_max_e = 7.5 Remove all negative values in B4 tbl.effective_fire_distance = 1200 same as P-51D Browning M2 Use QvGME and put folder in there. Now I can fight with AI in ace mode. It is still dangerous if you let down your guard. Enjoy Laz F4U-1D AI.zip

  10. Here is my MG151/20 20mm nose cannon mod. I have been using this for years. Use OvGME and place this folder in there, so you can revert back to 30mm. You get 210 rounds of 20mm, which when fired with the 13mm MG will run out of ammo at the same time. Now you have a BF109G-10 or K with 20mm. I have shot down 6 P-51D's with this load out in one sortie. It will display MG151/20 in debriefing. If only I can mod the weight of the ED BF109K can I get close to true G-10.   11. Magnitude 3 needs to fix some parameters in the lua. the .50 M2 is set at effective_fire_distance = 2000, should be 1200. No wonder I get hosed from long range every time before I even get to turn around, lol. The nominal weight should be 5,763 kg (12,694 lbs.) instead of 5,320 kg. Max internal fuel is 237 gallons not 178 gallons. Lots of bugs to be worked out. But still, I am happy we have another warbird. The more the merrier.
  12. I have been flying against the F4U AI since it came out. I fly the BF109K against a F4U Veteran. You cannot out climb it even though the BF109K-4 can out climb a F4U-1D in real life. They suppose to have same turn performance, but the AI always know when I am about to fire and turn away at the last moment. LOL. When it gets behind you it's all over, I try split S and dive away but it always catches you. This I know the F4U have better dive speed so fine. Only way I have found was to use 10-15 degrees flaps to out turn it and climb a little better to catch it. Then it takes forever to shoot it down with 30mm or 20mm modded nose cannons. Have to saw off wing or tail. After shooting up the engine the AI can out maneuver me with a dead engine, LOL. Only one time I out climbed it with MW50. Definitely stay fast while fighting the F4U. Then I did some digging in the lua, the climb rate is set at 22 m/s which is 4,330 fpm, no way, that's the F4U-4 with uprated engine with 4 propeller blades. F4U-1D can only climb to 15-16 m/s or 3100 fpm. AI can pull 9.0g and -4.0g. LOL. So I modded the F4U-1D.lua file with 7.0g and -3.0g. Change the climb rate to 15.4 m/s. Use OvGME to swop it out as needed. Now it's more realistic fighting the AI. May change it to 8.0g since all other AI fighters use that. Anyway have fun. Waiting for Hellcat or maybe give us a Nakajima Ki-84 Frank, Japan's best fighter that can challenge both the F6F and F4U. Don't care for the Zero, too slow, only good for fighting Spit9 in a turn fight. I'll be working on a ME262 mod. Enjoy.
  13. Hi Everyone, Attended a Stormbird event at the Chesapeake airport in Virginia. Got a close up view of the replica Me 262 with a continuing werk number from Messerschmitt. It took off from the airport and flew a demo flight for the crowd. Hope someone can continue a mod to get this in DCS.

  15. Hope the force feedback can be fix too. I have a Microsoft FFB2 that is still going since 1998. So far I love everything you guys have done. I am actually happy with the original Grinnelli v3.0 which i have slightly modded, it can out turn everything with FFB. BHoop's EFM is even more maneuverable, crazy but no FFB at the moment. Want this HUD of coarse, can't wait. I really hate the F15 HUD. Only using Nightstorm's slightly less tinted HUD so I can see what I'm shooting at up close. Need to mod the F15 HUD to eliminate the vertical and horizontal scales. Thank you all for such a great mod.
