  1. When you talk about the weapon select switch do you mean the a/a vs a/g ? Jim
  2. I'm doing the A120 Amram in the lesson section and I get to the point where I'm within range of the enemy and he tells me to pull the trigger but it doesn't do anything. I have the gun trigger action on my joystick (Extreme 3D Pro) set to JOY.BTN1. But when I push that button to fire the AIM120 Amraam, nothing happens, so that gun trigger is not firing for the Amraam. Do I have to program that action separately? If so, I don't see the Amraam selection in the options to do that. It sounds simple on the video, but not working out. Thanks. Jim
  3. I've noticed it pans herke jerky it its still on pause but smooths out quite nicely if its not on pause. jim Thanks for all the help. I picked apart that training video and since caught the hook landed folded the wings and parked the aircraft. thumbs up jim
  4. Here is a link to the video. Thanks. DCS: F/A-18C Hornet Case I Carrier Landing Training Lesson Recording - Bing video
  5. The video I'm watching always says to hit the weapon select switch to bring up the guns or now the AIM9s. I don't know where to find the weapon select switch. Can you tell me where it is or what they mean by it and I'm wondering if you can set the gun and all the other stores to the same switch or do you have to assign it. Thanks. Jim

  7. I'm watching this video and the guy who is showing it to me is able to pan around the cockpit very easily but when I do it, I use my hat switch and it moves in big chunks instead of moving smoothly around the cockpit. I want to know how to recreate how he is moving the view around so I can get a handle on it, instead of it moving jerkily around. I can't look over to the left or over to the right without re-correcting. Thanks, Jim
  8. What is the uniform key to hook-up at launch? thanks Jim
  9. Is there any way to quiet the engine noise during the lessons? Jim
  10. I'm trying to align the plane to connect the launch bar from the external views but don't know which key gets you back in the cock pit to do it. Jim
  11. Thanks. I tried using the fn button with F2 and that works. I'm able to get the external view. The other issue is not being able to reach the canopy switch. I'll try it with the fn button and see if I can reach it. Appreciate it.
  12. The game says that F2 is supposed to bring up an external view, but when I push F2, I get a slidebar on the upper left side of the screen that goes down and F3 goes up that adjusts the volume. F5 turns the sound off. On a side note, I can't reach the canopy switch and really can't move around the cockpit like I'm accustomed to in my X-Plane 11 game. I'm working on hooking up the Hornet to the Catapult and I need the external view to help me determine when I'm lined up to be hooked up to it. I've learned how to spread the wings and that's where I stand right now. Thank you. Jim
  13. Found that pushing the stabilizer button and then v and the up or down arrows adjust trim. Now I need to get the f2 button to give me an outside view instead of a volume control leaver so I can hook up to the launch bar. I'll my wife to look at it. Shes the I.T person. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Jim
  14. I didn't know you were supposed to hit those letters with the mouse arrow instead or the keys. I got through the lesson ok. I'm on the next lesson and having trouble setting the stabilizer trim to increase from 12 to 17. Thanks for the help, Jim
  15. When I press the back slash "\" to open the radio menu, I get auto, main, F5 ATC, and F12, and then exit on the upper right corner of the screen. Then it locks up until you turn the volume back down and when you press F5, it turns on and off volume on any videos I have open in the background in a browser. If you press F1, it turns on a slider on the left side of the screen. I get 3 main ATC bat and then C260 mhz, AM, F1, inbound F2 requests azimuth, F11 previous menu, F12 Exit. I'll review the manual as well. I can't follow as of yet. Need to clarify or simplify for now. My X-Plane 11 pause button operates by pushing "P". DCS operates by pushing Pause. The game is impressive but foggy at this point. I need help. I don't know if the commands from the video are doing the proper functions. I don't know what to do as the next step. Jim
  16. Thank you so much! I went back in and tried it again. The levers still didn't register, but then I right clicked as was able to assign it to Joy_Slider1 and it worked! Appreciate your help! Have a nice holiday. Jim
  17. I am trying to assign my throttle on the Logitech 3D Pro to the Thrust command on the FA18C. I'm doing this through the Axis Commands. I click on Access Assign and go to the Thrust row, and then to the Logitech column, but when I move the throttle on the joystick, it's not registering. Am I missing a step? Any guidance will be appreciated. Thanks. Jim
  18. We thought that we had programmed the accelerator switch on the Logitech but after trying it, it doesn't do anything. It still seems to be connected up to the keyboard. Can you identify acceleration and deceleration to the bottom accelerator switch on the Extreme Pro so we can use the Logitech for the acceleration and deceleration instead of the keyboard. Thank you. Jim
  19. I'm using this joystick for my X-Plane 11 planes and add-ons, but as of yet, I can't taxi, steer or accelerate with my joystick on the FA18C. Is there a way to calibrate it for the FA18C Hornet? A tutorial in the game? In other words, I can't operate it from a joystick the way it should be yet. Anything would be helpful to get me up in the air and on my way with the lessons. Thanks. Jim
  20. I've only had this for a couple of days but I've had other FA18's before, none of which were as complex as this one. I'm following a tutorial and when I get to the part where I'm supposed to enter 67X. I'm assuming that it is just 67 on the top and the X is highlighted, but I never get the added information that supposed to be on the hud. Any thoughts. Also, is there any way to kill the engine noise when the instructor is doing the talking. Stymied in Chi-town
